Title: Dude Food
Post by: BikerDude on June 29, 2017, 10:06:54 AM
You know I don't think you ever see the dude eat anything other than a handful of bar peanuts.
He didn't partake in the in and out burger. Which is understandable given the situation.

I'm wondering what would be Dude food?

I'm sitting here now enjoying BBQ chicken that I cooked up last night.
Slathered in BBQ sauce.
Split the chicken in half to have some for dinner and some for lunch today.
I was just thinking that there is nothing as great as BBQ yard bird.
Damn!
Got me some taters cooked in foil with some butter and garlic salt and pepper and some corn to go with it.
I couldn't even hold out till lunch time.
For me BBQ and cold beer wins.
Chicken and ribs especially.

I reckon the Dude survives on carryout and delivery, mostly. Maybe mixed in with some pot-luck he carried out from a get-together he invited himself to.

The Dude had a cup of noodles, a bag of corn chips, and a fountain drink container lying around his bungalow...so maybe stuff like that?

A keen eye my friend. I hadn't noticed that stuff before. I imagine him eating whatever is cheap or available and not being too picky about stuff. I would think like maybe ramen and snack foods. Seems like his style.

I suspect he'd lean toward convenient food.
But he may be a 60's kind of commune dweller thriving on brown rice and beans and tofu and hippie stuff.
But that sounds exhausting. So I doubt it. Maybe in principle but not in practice.
Very dude.

Didn't he also have a cookbook for Japanese (?) food? So I agree that if you pay for a some half n half with a postdated check for less than a buck then you are probably not a big spender when it comes to food. The dude is also a bit chubby.

I too had become a bit too chubby lately so had to go on a diet and get my gym membership up and running again. But I do find that there are still quite a bit of easy convenient food that are affordable also. You don't need to go crazy with the health food thingy.

But as for Dude-food I would say anything that is easy to make, convenient to buy, and taste good.

Takeout and anything that can be cooked a microwave or eaten straight from a box or bag I'd guess. Cheap and easy.

You know I can't say if this is Dude or not but I've been enjoying the admittedly weird Gatorade flavor "Limon Pepino".
Which translated to "Lime Cucumber". Sounds odd but damn, it's refreshing and good! Strangely it tastes like what it says but it's such and odd pairing that you can't really anticipate what that will taste like. It makes sense.

It has developed a cult following.
It even has it's own facebook page.

Glad to know there's a cult following.  I'll hafta get into that!

Cheap and available, as said before. There are lots of things in cans and boxes that can be eaten without using fancy plates and pans. As for the hippie/veggie food - depends on the cook. It may be pretty simple or pretty complicated. I have seen veggie recipes with three ingredients and I have seen recipes using half of the grocery store. You can eat simple hippie food provided you are a hippie and not a hipster, looking for 75 types of cheese.
