In preparing for the wedding I'm performing today, I was trying to think of some "filler" to add to it. Now, full disclosure here, I don't know if I thought of this on my own or if I read it somewhere, or if it came during a vision quest...but I digress.
When I was contemplating other weddings I've been to, and there always seems to be some sort of "Candle Lighting" where the bride and groom each hold a candle and then walk to a larger candle and use their respective candles to light the flame together of the larger candle as a symbolic gesture of two becoming one.
I thought, why not "Dudeify" this? Two vessels, one with vodka and one with Kahlua. Then say some words about the light and dark, the yin and yang and have them each pour their own liquids into one larger vessel. Then, as the Dudeist Priest, I would add the half and half and blather on about the "white as snow purity of their love" being added to the mix (or something else to blather about) and then mix it together to make one groovy drink to symbolize their unity.
Anyway, thoughts...feedback...has anyone done this...does anyone think this is cool, etc. or just kinda lame...you know, uhh...uhh...is this new shit that has come to light, or uhh...ya know man...uhhh, sir?
**UPDATE**
The ceremony went GREAT! Even the square community who couldn't give a shit less thought it was a far out. Anyone who wants to add the CAUCASIAN OCCASION to their wedding ceremony should really think about trying it. It was a big hit!!
Far fucking out man! Sounds great but know During a ceremony a wiser feller than my self once did ...the wife's was a pain in the ass. She's was always busting the grooms friggin' agates. Their daughter's married to a real loser bastard. And mean while he had got a rash so bad on his ass, he can't even sit down. But you know the dude .. he can't complain. The Dude Abides in The Brides tide but thats just like you know my opinion man.
I think it s fabulous stuff , execution is everything
The ceremony went great. The couple found a DJ who were fellow Dudeists and had the entire soundtrack so everyone was treated to that. And no fucking Eagles man. I suggest anyone who wants to try adding the CAUCASIAN OCCASION to their wedding ceremony should really try it. It, like the rug, will really tie the whole ceremony together man.
Far out man, i hope to officiate a wedding one of these days and will be sure to have this in mind.
Excellent. I was thinking of what to add to jumping the broom!
I'm late to the party but I love your idea! Much better than the traditional unity candle or sand "art" I've seen at some weddings.
This may be the greatest thing I've heard ever, definitely going to try my hand at this for my inaugural ceremony.
