I wish more people in the world were like this. Y'know?
You know what'd be an interesting idea that I would love getting behind, starting a Dudeist Charity.
Charity is cool but you don't really need dudeism.
As far as the dude in the video I would hope that Sam Ash, the Walmart of musical instruments would step up.
The music industry has reaped the rewards of so many who have "payed their dues to sing the blues". Let's face it. R&B going all the way back to Elvis and all the Brit bands owes a huge debt. Instruments for musicians down on their luck.
For anyone who's ever gotten what rock is about it's NOT even charity. It's paying a debt.
Look at Free-range
Quote
Just about a year ago, I set out on the road,
Seekin' my fame and fortune, lookin' for a pot of gold.
Things got bad, and things got worse, I guess you will know the tune.
Oh ! Lord, stuck in Lodi again.
Rode in on the Greyhound, I'll be walkin' out if I go.
I was just passin' through, must be seven months or more.
Ran out of time and money, looks like they took my friends.
Oh ! Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again.
The man from the magazine said I was on my way.
Somewhere I lost connections, ran out of songs to play.
I came into town, a one night stand, looks like my plans fell through
Oh ! Lord, stuck in Lodi again.
Mmmm...
If I only had a dollar, for ev'ry song I've sung.
And ev'ry time I've had to play while people sat there drunk.
You know, I'd catch the next train back to where I live.
Oh ! Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again.
Oh ! Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again.
Or the brothers
Quote
Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin',
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'.
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing,
And the road goes on forever,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
And I've gone by the point of caring,
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
Rock was built on soul
Some of the best bluesmen wrote their music after they went through some serious shit. Look at the first one, Robert Johnson, he was forced to wander around and play to anyone who would listen. Blind Willy Johnson spent most of his life in poverty after his mother blinded him by throwing lye in his face. Howlin' Wolf was physically abused by his father for years, being forced to do hard manual labor will his father slept around. The Blues was built upon suffering.

And rock and roll, Motown and "real" country music (Hank SR., Johnny Cash etc)
It's always seemed a bit odd that blues and rock were called " the devil's music".
Isn't Christianity supposed to "comfort the afflicted and afflicted the comfortable"? Thing really get turned on there head sometimes in the land of milk and honey.

Because more often then not, it challenged the status quo. In ancient times, Christianity was the religion that stuck it to the man (the emperor of Rome). But now after 1500 years of dominance, it in it of itself became the man.
EDIT: Wooo! 100th post! :D :D :D
