Cronkite was a fascist and a company man to the end. A professional liar.

Cronkite was a CIA man. He stuck to the "Oswald did it alone" story until the end. His anti-Vietnam war ranting was straight out of the CIA play book. A stooge, like Woodward, Rather, all the rest.

So, it was all a goddamn fake?  He threw out a ringer for a ringer?

I think so D.K. I think it wise to assume that everyone on TV is an actor. The newsmen, the politicians, it's all so phony. Corporate spokesmen, dude.

I'm not sayin' that there's anything to this, but there are some things that we never see the Dude doing, like watching TV. He watches the tube at Maude's place, at her request, but that's porn so does that even count? When asked about recreation, he does not mention TV, even though we know that he owns one. He prefers the occasional acid flashback.

I understand why people liked Cronkite, he looked like dad or grandpa and he had that great voice, he was intelligent, etc. If he was such an iconoclast like he always seemed, how did he keep his job? Whistle blowers get the axe, not the podium.

I say this with abiding respect to all you dudes. It's just my opinion, I'm just a dude. Gettin' off the soapbox now.

Maybe there was an uncompromised first incarnation of Cronkite that was a real dude.

Is that some kind of Eastern thing?
