Title: I Say Hunter.S. Thompson.
Post by: WillDude on June 24, 2009, 03:12:02 AM
This Dude invented Gonzo journalism and took more drugs than actually exist!
He is the author of Fear and loathing in Las Vegas and the Rum diary.

Worked for Rolling stones as a reporter but wasn't a puss.

Johnny Depp played him....actually Depp is another idea......

  8) I love his quote " I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."

Hunter's suicide really effected me as a fan, I mean I know it all cool and I'm a libertarian about the whole drugs and guns thing- but still, the dude entered a world of pain with only one way out.

Dude shot himself back in 2005. He was at his Owl Creek home and ended it with his family in the next room over. Some say it was depression, others cite chronic medical conditions, and some even say it was a parting middle finger to Bush's America. The truth, however, is that only he knew why.

Love HST. One of my patron saints. But, way too violent, and not a lot of peace of mind.  Now, if there existed "Sobchakism," then HST would be a prime poster boy.

Another couple of  Sobchak-types that come to mind are Johnny Cash and Christian Bale.
