Title: 50 things you didn't know about the Big Lebowski
Post by: BikerDude on August 04, 2014, 10:01:29 AM
A couple of interesting ones.....
Quote
1.The line, "The Dude abides" is a reference to Ecclesiastes 1:4 in The Bible: "One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides forever."

6.In the script's first draft, The Dude was revealed as the heir to the Rubik's Cube fortune. Joel Coen later scrapped the idea, choosing to leave The Dude's source of income a mystery.

17.Keeping in the tradition of a film noir, The Dude appears in every scene of the movie. Even when the Nihilists are ordering pancakes, you can see the van containing The Dude and Walter drive past.

All 50 here...

I don't buy this one.  I've re-watched this scene a few times for the sole purpose of spotting Walter's van and, unless I'm really missing it, didn't see a van "drive past".  However, you can see a white van in the background twice.

Whether or not it's Walter's van is not clear...not to me, anyway; neither appears to have the writing on the side that Walter's van had.  This may have been nothing more than one of those "happy accidents" that sometimes occurs during filming, and some people choose to believe it's Walter's van.  I don't.

I don't know. The Cohens are good at that craftsmanship stuff. Some of the film noir (and other) references in TBL are pretty damn obscure. I wouldn't put this being an intentional thing past them.

I can't disagree with that, I'm only saying I'm not convinced.  Which, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't mean shit.  ;D
