I've been saying to friends that the Hobbit film diverges from the book quite a bit, but I tend to watch it as a beautiful visit into Tolkeins Middle Earth. Because they used the well known artists who designed the sets it's all the books and posters and calendars I use to own come to life. That is why I loveit and truly hope he goes on to make some of the other Middle Earth books as well. Perhaps even the appendices from Lord of the Rings or even a twelve film epic of the Silmarillion.
