Hey dudes, in honor of our recently passed away fellow Dude, Chuck Keiser (cckeiser), I started this thread as a place to post material you enjoyed that Chuck had posted, and a place to comment on Chuck's material, contributions to Dudeism, and what have you.

DO NO HARM!
IN MEMORY OF CHUCK (C.C.) KEISER,
the original writer of the DO NO HARM essay
I'll start, Dude. How about this (abbreviated) response that ccDude gave to me during a recent exchange:
Quote from: cckeiser on July 08, 2014, 03:44:51 PM
No body here is obligated to do anything or constrained to any point of view or any philosophy whatsoever....especially anything coming from me.....
Yeah I am an admin, and right now because I am pretty much house bound and need assistance to go anywhere....I am pretty much all over this forum...I really need something to do and I can not bowl! I really hate not being able to bowl!
But after the last few flare ups and reading thread after thread of somebody bashing this or that or anything....I got really tired of it and asked myself if all this was the best we could do with this forum? Is this the Best we could do?
If someone seems to be posting shite that looks like it's un-dude....I will try and see if I can find the Tao/Dudeism in it...
I would Love as much help as I can get from anyone else who may feel somewhat the same.
I would like to see the Dude Forum for Dudes and a place everyone can come when they need to so get their dude on.
Take er easy, Abide and please...do not be a dick!
I sure could have used this advice 50 years ago! 8)
He was living our little ethos to the very end. Respects to Chuck, and best wishes as he advances into the finals. I know we don't have a 21-gun salute or anything in Dudeism, but if somebody could rig up a sound file with bowling pins falling over and over again (similar to what the Dude listens to in his meditation), maybe that could be our tribute.

For Chuck (cc dude)...Jeffrey Lebowski listens to past bowling performances on audio cassette - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYRvNbi6TN8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYRvNbi6TN8)

Yeah, I have done my share bashing in the past.....but I do believe this forum has changed my outlook....I feel like I am becoming more Dude/Tao.
And I think that is what this forum is really meant for....at least for me. For me I want to explore more Taoism/Dudeism/Abideism and I believe I (S)hould be directing as much of my thoughts and writing in that direction on this forum.
I am an Introvert...INFJ, so I never feel like I am the best person to be giving advice to anyone on anything...but then the INFJ kicks me the other way and I just have to say/write something if i think it will help...But it's all just like my opinion...and there are a handful of dudes who are still actively posting that I have great respect for their dudely point of view....so I guess what I am doing is asking for help from wiser dudes than I, to help keep our beach community as Dudely as we can....without getting all kinds of preachy. I do not want any type of censorship....censorship it Not Dude!

I will admit to shedding a tear.
As Forum Dude said I don't think we realised how bad he really was.

Well said, M5 dude. (http://dudeism.com/smf/Themes/default/images/post/thumbup.gif)
I've asked cc's nephew for some photos and maybe a short bio so that we can put up a tribute page for him on the site to honor his legacy and also the Do No Harm philosophy he birthed which dovetailed so nicely with Dudeism.
Should we add him to the great Dudes in History list?

For the record; let us not forget, this was Chuck's last post. It seems to have a feeling of some final words of advice and a "goodbye and farewell" from a great dude.
the board runs in cycles...sometimes very active and sometimes really slow. I like it mellow....sort of like it is now.
There is a chat/shoutbox at the bottom of the main page, but I seldom get down that far myself.
Yeah....feedback to posts and posters was always a little bit of a problem. we do not have a FaceBook type "Like" option so we do not see too much that kind of "like" feedback....and for the most part...we are all pretty much all dudes here....and therefore pretty much lazy! ;D
Which makes almost any reply/feedback feel special.
You are welcome to chat and shoutout at the bottom of the main page dude! 8)
Every once in a while we get a paraquat who just wants to kick shie up and mess with our dudeness. Best to try and ignore anything you don't like and not let it spoil the forum for you.
They are mostly just trolls and the best way to deal with a forum troll is to ignore it.
Take er easy....abide...and do Not be a dick.
If we can do that the forum will always be a nice mellow beach community for any dude who would like to pull up a rug and chill. 8)

Might I suggest that some Dudeist form of canonization might be considered.
Canonization (in American English and Oxford spelling) or canonisation (in majority British English) is the act by which the Catholic Church or Eastern Orthodox Church declares a deceased person to be a saint, upon which declaration the person is included in the canon, or list, of recognized saints.

I have to be honest, this just strikes me of copying the christians. I have always been against the christianisation of dudeism.
I have no problem with making him a great Dude in history, but lets not start "canonising" people, it's too like we are trying to be another christianity.
IMHDO.
I also don't agree with canonization.
For me I want to make a solo bowling pin with his name on it. (Maybe a black one with white stripe. Maybe a pin with a cloth over it.) In life we're like the pins. Life keeps knocking us down, and we just need to keep getting back up.
But there's that one day. One day your pin stays down.

bit, from your own post? I don't think you could get any more literal than that.
And again I think you are missing the point. Why would we have saints? We have great dudes in history we don't need anything else.

That is well put Masked Dude! And I definitely consider him a Great Dude in History. I am new here so don't feel like I've really formed my voice yet but I really think that should be made "Official". The way I see it there is still plenty to be learned and understood from his posts and articles here! His Dudeness will certainly live on!

Hey Dudes,
If I may introduce myself..
I am Chuck's (C.C. Keiser's) younger Bro, from his mothers 2nd marriage.
I want to first thank you all for this Tribute to him.
Sadly, In his latter days, I wasn't as close with him as I wished I could have been, so to me, I feel a great sorrow and I mourn loosing him.
I am grateful though, that his suffering is ended and he can now rest in dudeist peace.
This may or may not be Dude like, but when I read this post I couldn't help but shed some tears.
dudeism.com/smf/your-dirty-undies/this-is-not-dude!/msg45897/ (http://dudeism.com/smf/your-dirty-undies/this-is-not-dude!/msg45897/)
With regards to the Idea of canonisation, I think I can safely say the C.C. Keiser would tell you this idea is NOT DUDE.
As meekon5 stated, making him a great Dude in history, or perhaps even a bit more elite than that, a Classification such as "greatest Dudes in history" is most certainly More DUDE like.
Myself, I was not part of the Dudeist aspect of C.C. Keiser's life.
So I am only now reflecting back on all that he is to all of the Dudes here.
C.C. Keiser was a prolific writer. I'm sure he may have shared some of his stories with some of the Dudes here.
I and the rest of the Family are trying to collect as many of his stories as we can.
If anyone has been bestowed with some of his stories, please contact me so that I may add them to the family's collection.
Thanks,
Rest in Dudeist Peace my Bro
please.... Do No Harm

WyldAnimal, just dropped by to say welcome to our dudely beach community. Really appreciate your words about Chuck, he was a good dude. Your comments are fabulous stuff, mang. Glad you could join us. Grab a place on the rug, dude, and abide. Good to have you here.
Just emailed wyldanimal to see if he has any leads on photos of chuck and a bio of his life for the memorial page.
also pointed out that chuck (cc) was the co-author of "The Little Lebowski", a sequel to TBL. http://dudeism.com/smf/the-little-lebowski/ (http://dudeism.com/smf/the-little-lebowski/)
