Title: Gettin' Official in Oregon?
Post by: Camerontb on April 12, 2014, 03:03:57 PM
Hey, all. I'm fairly new to the site, But I've been ordained for a few months now. But, I come seeking help and guidance.

I reside in Washington County Oregon, and have practically no experience dealing with the legal stuff here(Or anywhere else). So, I was hoping some other dudeist's who live near here could help me out. This is kind of a general question but, what exactly ARE the steps taking to make it so I can legally officiate weddings, funerals, etc etc etc?

I understand I need to be ordained, which as I said above, I am. Do I need to order and wait for the letter of good standing and "official" ordination paper? I haven't gotten around to doing so yet but I was planning on it anyway. Do I just need to go to the sheriffs office, or somewhere else? etc. Like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to legal stuff.

Fucking amateur here when come to that stuff, dude. You might want to contact The Dudely Lama ( ForumDude ) and run your questions by him. PM him, he can probably help you.

Also, dude, great to have you in our beach community, mang. Bars' over there, grab a cold one and abide!

You have to check with your town clerk.

Also familiarize yourself with this website http://www.themonastery.org/ordination?gclid=CJ6YgN3F3b0CFUuXOgodEScA4g (ftp://www.themonastery.org/ordination?gclid=CJ6YgN3F3b0CFUuXOgodEScA4g) they are who we base our ordination model after.

Let us know how you are making out.

This is the info I found for my Dudeist priest...
The bride and groom need to get the license, you do the ceremony, fill out the form and return to the county within 10 days.
www. co. washington. or. us /AssessmentTaxation/MarriageLicenses/
I found this to be super helpful!
www. theamm.org/ wedding-ceremony-training

Here's the catch... I still haven't figured out if OR will accept this church. What I need is an address and phone number to associate this church with. I imagine it is something they check too...

Any advice? I just ordered the Kit for my Dudeist Priest, and I'm hoping there is an address and phone number to use in there when I get it. What should I expect?

Laura

Dude, Oregon is pretty easy going. My brother married my wife and I there a couple of years ago and it took nothing on his part (but you do need that address). The only difference is he went through Universal Life Church. If there is some anti-Dudeist sentiment in the clerk's office, I don't know about it (but a call down to the good ole Hillsboro courthouse should take care of it).
