Title: Dudes of the Leaf - Rolled Into a Cigar Shaped Smoking Instrument
Post by: jgiffin on April 04, 2014, 12:09:14 AM
So, hey, just wondering how many of you dudes partake of cigars and what your preferences may be. I find it an exercise in relaxation and partake about once a month.

I'm really, really, partial to My Father Cigars. Loved about everything it has released - both in its own name and by contract (e.g., La Aroma de Cuba, San Cristobal, etc.). Keep a bunch of Olivas, Perdomos, and Fuente (Hemingways, mostly) in the ole humidors, too.

In high school I used to smoke blunts, but I would remove the tobacco and replace it with something else. Does that count?

I am an Avid Cigar smoker.
I have 2 categories.
1. If I was a hedge fund manager.
2. Everyday smokes.

In the "If I was a hedge fund manager" category I'd put the Padron anniversaries (64 and 26 I think they are) and some other fav's. Comacho Triple Maduros are wonderful. Case Torano Maduro is a fav also. Too many to list really.

In the everyday smokes I have some decent bargain hand rolleds.

I used to grow my own leaf. It crows easy and if you don't have a space for a garden you can grow a plant in a 5 gal bucket.
If you are in the US you can buy leaf from http://tobaccotalk.itgo.com/ (http://tobaccotalk.itgo.com/) if you are out side the US I think you can still buy seeds.
I did roll a few cigars just to give it a try, but mostly I grew cigarette tobacco.
Warning though....I now have lung cancer and can't smoke anything....just so you know smoking too much tobacco will lead to lung cancer.
I start my second round of chemo this Thursday...should buy me a few more years. 8)

I think that it's a bit of an art to age cigar tobacco.
The best of it is cask aged like whiskey.
I'll leave it to the pro's.

Good call on Cigar International. I keep it bookmarked - just crazy cheaper than brick-and-mortar stores. But that's kinda sad, too. I love a local place with dudes who know their stuff, give recommendations and practical advice, and provide a comfy place to try new shit. Ours has local beers on tap, too.

Good luck on the chemo, cckeiser. You got awhile, though. Don't go talking bout the good lord gypping you just yet.  ;)

Yeah a smoker here, hoping they perfect growing new lungs in the laboratory before I get the C. Lung cancer got my dad, but he worked in shipyards and other nasty places as well as smoking way too much because of his alcoholism. I should fair a bit better than he did.

I use to smoke Monticristo no 4's but prefer a j nowadays.
Good luck with the chemo cc.
My dad use to smoke hamlets, stopped and got a bowel disease. The doctor said if he hadn't stopped he probably wouldn't have! Go figure!!!
