Changing the clocks this weekend messes me up as usual, I have enough problem with time management as it is.

Uhm, dude, wasn't daylight savings like a month ago? Maybe it depends on where you are.

It's almost better if it was a month ago. Very dudely to have missed it. :)

'Bout to change my job, trying closer to my house so I don't have to drive 1h to get to work (really exhausting, when added to day job and the raising of 2 little mermaids).

Kind of hard at the moment, I lost a friendship recently, and the person refuses to give me the real reasons, poisonning my mind on the mistakes I may have done. It was my most intimate friend, shared all my thought and troubles, laughs,... Pretty undude moments for me.

Today I almost got all excited about something at work, but then I had a cool drink and mellowed back down to normal.

Close call there!

Seriously?! Is that where we got that Quintana of a swiss fucking watch shit to change the time? How long has that been going on? Did it come from here and you all do it now to or other way around. It is the stupidist thing ever.

Actually it's the Ancient Egyptians fault, they followed twelve stars (each dedicated to a different deity) over the night as they passed over the night sky. Being pretty clued up they realised the same stars traveled through the sky during the day so set up water clocks to follow the times, thus creating the twenty four hour day, entirely artificial.

Being of Celtic extraction myself I run by a system of Celtic Mean Time.

That's fucking interesting, man.
Being of a curious disposition, I had to look this up. Trying to find a suitably creditable source was a little tricky, but here's a page with some info and a photo (http://www.scienceandsociety.co.uk/results.asp?image=10314595) of a merkhet, an Ancient Egyptian device used to measure the passage of the stars.

There is a more in-depth explanation for the division of night-time into 12 hours which is based on the number of "decan" stars which were seen to rise during summer nights in Ancient Egypt. A "decan" star was a star which rose just before sunrise at the beginning of a 10-day "decade" in Ancient Egypt. 36 "decan" stars marked the passage of a year for the Egyptians (or 36 10 day periods). During summer nights, 12 decan stars rose - one for each "hour".

However, hours did not have a fixed length until the Greeks decided they needed such a system for theoretical calculations. Hipparchus proposed dividing the day equally into 24 hours which came to be known as equinoctial hours (because they are based on 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on the days of the Equinoxes). Ordinary people continued to use the seasonally varying hours for a long time. Only with the advent of mechanical clocks in Europe in the 14th Century, did the system we use today become common place.

My system is somewhat simpler:
I hope I'll go to sleep some time tonight and, moreover, I hope I'll wake up some time the in the next day or two.
I also have some very tolerant friends, a valuable resource. Additionally, I have some worthy fucking adversaries.
Mind you, the fucking human paraquat quotient seems to be growing, must be something to do with our unelected conservative junta.

Ya, us plebes are held accountable at every turn, yet the top 1% get away with murder - with no accountability.

Fuck it, I'm having an oat soda.

I live right by a police academy. [Insert Steve Guttenberg joke here]. There's also a Fraternal Order of Police bar next door. Recruits used to drink there after hours while in training. Now, they can't drink alcohol during the entire course of training; which is, I believe, like 3-4 weeks. That INCLUDES when they are home for the weekends. They, too, get piss tested.

What is the fascist state coming to when the jackboots employed to crush our bourgeois throats, themselves, can't have a nice white wine spritzer with their fettuccine alfredo?

Shit. First of all, fuck Good Friday. My grandmother died on it. My dad died on it. And now my best friend's father just died on it. I'm glad I'm not a Christian because thay would really make it worse.

I know some will say if I don't celebrate Easter, why do I care? When that day comes around the fact that it's Good Friday is mentioned a lot in my area.

A guy I know who claims to be a friend continues to talk shit about me behind my back. I think he talked me out of a couple projects. For business reasons I can't dropkick his sorry ass right now.

I know many others (including many here) have worse things happening. I'd love to have a little good shit happen, y'know?

Edit: Just got told my the father of my cousin's baby died in a car wreck yesterday (Good Friday), too.
