You see what happens when you join a non-denominational and decentralized religion and expect its adherents to act semi-responsibly? Do you see what happens, Larry, when you join a non-denominational and decentralized religion and expect its adherents to act semi-responsibly? This is what happens when you join a non-denominational and decentralized religion and expect its adherents to act semi-responsibly.

I mean, come on now. I get the tongue-in-cheek social commentary of the request. But beyond casting themselves as equally ridiculous as those they oppose, the whole thing just seems like it would take a lot of effort. Most of us aren't real big on the effort thing.

Well, that sound cool and all but... who's forking up the $ for this endeavor? Folks at the court house have shit on hold any who... bummer. By all means go forth and conquer, I guess.

I doubt it's going to happen, but they're proving an important point: fundies rant and rave about religious freedoms until people start talking about equally applying those freedoms to every religion.

I remember reading a great article about some fundie state lawmaker somewhere that was gung-ho for funneling tax money to religious schools, until someone pointed out that the money could go to islamic schools as well. The speed of their about-face was stunning.

There is even a push within the most radical wing of the fundie conservatives to have all non-christian religions - especially islam - somehow legally deemed "cults", and in their warped minds this would supposedly mean that 1st amendment protections would only apply to christianity since "cults" aren't "religions". This fails even the most basic legal and logical tests, but some of these mental midgets are still advocating for it.

Mark it 8, Dude, great points! Religion in the government is great [by which I mean not at all great] until a different religion is in charge. The fundamentalists down at the league office never seem to remember that.

I'm down with it.
As long as the "big" religions make these sort of demands then others should piggy back them all the way.
And the more ridiculous "religions" are best at this.
Perhaps if town halls and courthouses end up festooned with Dudes and Spaghetti monsters then the rest of the religions will learn to keep their stuff in their own back yards man.
