Not sure if this is talked of elsewhere.
Is there an option to print of the ordination certificate and letter?
Curious because am broke as a joke and that would be an alternative for such as this.
I think the deal is you have to pay.... It's a tenner in English money! No biggy really if you can afford internet then maybe you can pay a bit towards the Dudeism church!
Oh maybe not.... maybe for a whole certificate embossed and all and with a letter of good standing it should be provided for free!
Maybe they should start doing passports online too...I can see a market for that!
Sure, whatever, Caesar. Could pay and do it online for whatever. You dont have to make it sound like some fucking pain. Forgive me for asking, and insulting you.
While on that as Caesar brings it up. I was not under the impression that Dudeism was in this for need of donations and such. If it is who is benefiting from it?
Yeah, I think this is one of those things they need to collect on in order to keep the lights on, the books published and the servers running.
I'm broke too and I'm actually putting off being ordained for that and other reasons.

For starters, someone has to pay for the bandwidth we're all using. I don't know if this whole operation can be supported by the sales of books and chatchkis alone, so they're charging for certificates.
I haven't noticed anyone here pestering us for donations, or limiting features of the forum to paying members. That would be worth bitching about, IMHO.
I printed my own dude. I just brought it up in a browser window and right clicked to print. It didn't do a very good job and my nephew had his sent to him framed and all and looks great like a real official document and all, but I'm to fuckin' cheap to pay for anything.
I think Oliver makes a modest profit from each sale...he has to feed the monkey too dude....keeps him in Kahlua and oat sodas.

It is the principal of it, you would want to know where and how it is being used.
Do not know what publisher is being used, but if Lulu.com is being used, they print on demand for each individual order.
Servers, well maybe if this is an upgraded bb-php forum but it would not be much at all.

I think the domain itself, more specifically the ".com" part, indicates someone is profiting from this website.
I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong for asking, but it's kind of the same as asking the owner of your local liquor store or bowling alley what he's doing with his profits.
No, not when it is under the registration of religion.

That's part of what makes it the most honest religion of all.

Well, my opinion is that sounds like no accountability if it is taboo to know.
That is just my opinion though....

Fair enough, I'm just making the point that the Dudes behind this site aren't hiding the fact that they're profiting from it, whether you buy a certificate or a book or whatever. If they're not registering Dudeism as a non-profit religion, then I think the only people who should be seeking "accountability" are the IRS around April 15th. Or maybe not - isn't the main Dude guy in Asia?
The catholic church is "non-profit" and the last pope wore Prada. Go figure.

Good point!
LOL Pope can wear whatever, still think he is kumquat covered in paraquat... lol
Dudely Lama I do not think is hiding shit except maybe his dirty undies and frankly I dont care of that... If he needs help and I am able to give a little, I would. Peace
Oliver has stated quite clearly that he is NOT a pope of any sort!!
This is getting out of hand dudes!

What!? I never said that. I was talking of that guy who calls himself that.
Why would you even say that Caesar?
I don't think there was a comparison with Oliver and the Pope. I think the point was Roman Catholicism is "Non-Profit" making and

Though that does fill my mind with images of the Pope mincing around in red high heels. No change there then.
BTW I printed from the online version. Then bought the big package because it just looks cooler (and less cheap).

with fish net stockings!!
Something to note about non-profit institutions. The CORPORATION that is the institution does not show a profit, but all employees, directors, etc. can receive a handsome salary. Just because a particular religion is non-profit doesn't mean they leaders aren't swimming in cash.
As for Oliver, I figure he makes more like a spare beer here and there off of this. Figure out the pay per hour and he's probably not doing that well.
For example, I just made a posting in another thread that I'm offering badges for $5 including postage. I haven't figured my exact cost but I might, on a good day, make the cost of a can of soda out of that.
Lets be honest Oliver wouldn't need to be such a media whore (and sell books and stuff) if he was actually making money out of Dudeism.
;D
In case anyone is wondering....I am not paid for being the janitor on this forum. Don't know about the other admins, but I don't make a cent! 8)
Yeah, my hourly wage is pretty pathetic. That's one of the reasons I live in Thailand!
I often joke that I totally fucked up by creating a religion that primarily attracts hairy men who are not very wealthy. I should have geared it towards rich and beautiful yuppified women if I wanted to reap the traditional benefits of being a so-called "guru." Ha ha.

Have you installed cam spyware on my computer? Is there a shamus following me? I'm totally freaking out, man!
