Mr. Beer is a great way to get started - it's relatively inexpensive, and helps you become familiar with the "technology". The Mr. Beer forums are very active, and the folks there very helpful, so if you're ever stuck, check out http://community.mrbeer.com/community/discussion-forums (http://community.mrbeer.com/community/discussion-forums)

I believe you should be able to download the Dude De Ching android app now with out it telling you to ask permission.
