Pretty much sums me up...

Pretty much... yep.
I understand that this statement makes little to no sense in the US, but I'd ban guns.
Not because 'guns are bad, mmmkay', but because the US government is basically feeding the citizens gun porn, creating a weaponry cult. I understand that it's a part of the country's history and the whole 'freedom' thing, but it's high time people stopped squeezing triggers and started asking themselves why they are sent to other countries to do that.
The problem is if you look at murder rates (drop the word "gun" from "murder rates"), the USA is way down the list with the gun banning countries higher up (they just use knives, bats, bombs instead of guns).
I've seen people wondering why the government is doing things to convince people to buy more guns. Part is explained by mental illness of the leaders (for example, a certain anti-gun politician from our state has obvious PTSD as she keeps bringing up a murder she walked in on many years ago). I don't know about the rest. Many actions of our government appear to be those of someone trapped and in a panic, maybe that's it, they see their own demise and can't abide that. Whatever it is, I know it's pushed people I know to start arming themselves when they would otherwise never have bothered.
It's probably too late in the US to ban guns. If they did, their would be riots, considering some of the people I've spoken to about it. Many of these potential rioters are people who I'd trust with a weapon, however. I definitely agree that it's a culture problem though. I just don't understand why anyone can go down the street and buy an assault rifle...
In the UK large knives are banned, yet people are stabbed all the time. Banning anything doesn't seem to work.
In the USA Chicago bans everything to just below the word gun yet they top out the murder charts. Actually, a person saying gun in a public place (even if it's their name) and get them shot by the police now. Of course shootings by police don't count.
The problem is violence, one reason for it is crowding. Another is inter-group hatred is fanned by various political, religious, financial people. As long as we're all fighting amongst ourselves, we're not fighting the elite. If I recall right the ancient Romans used this with great success, mixing groups of slaves together that hated each other. They were always too busy fighting and snitching on each other to bother fighting their captors.
Good comments, dudes! 8)(http://dudeism.com/smf/Themes/default/images/post/thumbup.gif)
