Title: The Soundtrack of the Dudeist Life
Post by: RevKHyler on June 26, 2013, 07:27:31 PM
Everybody has their own soundtrack to help them keep on abiding. Right now my list includes:
Bread - Mother Freedom
Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride
James Taylor - (Pretty much the whole Copperline album)
Billy Joel - (The entire 52nd Street album)
(gasp) the Eagles - Taking It Easy (yeah, I know, the Dude hated the Eagles... but they have some  killer songs!)
What's on your list?

Nice choices, dude.  'specially the Billy Joel.  "Half a Mile Away" definitely puts me in abide mode.

The summer weather has brought out the Jimmy Buffett collection (I think JB gets a bad rap, but the guy was writing about abiding long before TBL). I also turn to Leon Russell when I need to find my way home.  The whole Carney album is just awesome.

Scatman John
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Mustard Plug
Harvey Danger

Ska stuff just helps calm me down for some reason.  And Scatman...  Well it's just hard not to listen to the message in some of his songs  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2mRA03dWUI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2mRA03dWUI)

In my opinion, one of the most dude musicians in the history of the world would be Mr. Brant Bj?rk. The sheer layedbackness of his riffs, lyrics and attitude is just stupefyin'. Certainly one of my top choices for a dude day off. Also, check out the movie Sabbia by the same guy, its on YouTube. Its a bit artsy, but in the good way.

Lovin' the suggestions! Keep 'em coming! I've added Ray Charles and some old BB King to my list this weekend. Nothing like the warm crackle of old vinyl and a cold Rolling Rock!

I've recently put the OST from Bastion in my favorite Playlist. Especially the songs Build that Wall (Zia's Song) and Setting Sail, Coming Home (Ending Theme). You can find em in spotify or youtube under the artists name Darren Korb.
