Title: Dudes On Vacation
Post by: RevKHyler on May 28, 2013, 02:01:07 PM
I'll start the discussion with this:
What do you view as being the most essential elements of a Dude-worthy vacation?
I spent a weekend at the north part of the Oregon coast with a couple of Dudely pals and a 12-pack of good microbrew and we found ourselves giving this some thought.
The one thing we could agree on was the need to truly relax and just be instead of running around like crazy...
Your thoughts, brother and sister dudes?  8)

Bingo! This is the secret to all good vacations. Truly relaxing vacations allow me to forget about work. The running around kind make me happy to go back to work. I hate having an agenda that I have to follow on vacation like on Monday I have to be here, Tuesday I have to be there, Wednesday......oh fuck it, I'm going back to work. And honestly when a couple of dudes or a group of dudes go on vaca together they have a tendency to just roll with it. Whatever happens happens. When the ladies get involved there are antique shoppes that have to be visited, certain restaurants that have to be sampled, schedules that MUST be adhered to, etc. And I'm not saying that the ladies are bad, they're just different from dudes. Hell, I'm married to one of them. I have to put the toilet seat down even when we're on vacation.
I realize that this is going to come off as wildly sexist but it is what it is.

For me?  The vacations where you need a vacation to recover from your vacation is not a vacation.

Vacation is about relaxing, forgetting about the day to day grind and problems and just enjoying what's around you.  A tent, a cooler full of your beverage of choice and some campfire food, a stream for fishing and the peace and quiet of nature is my ideal vacation.

No cell, no PC, no meetings, no calls, heck no conversation.  That's the only time I truly feel as if I've relaxed.

for me, its just being able to get away from the mundaneness of everyday life and responsibilities.

clear your mind for awhile, chill with some buddies and just have a good time enjoying life again.

i certainly can't wait for my trip to cali in 2 weeks to spend some high times at the beach, enjoy the beautiful weather & scenery and just veg out cali style 8)

Words such as these come to mind for vacations..............

oat sodas, laid back, good burgers, no shoes, dude-like music, the beach, coitus, no news, burning a J, cloud covered-where abouts unknown, slacking............etc.

When I become insanely rich, I'll start on offshore cruise where oat sodas & burning a J & skyclad walks are A-OK.

Let us know when you get that cruise started! Sounds like a great time. (Since Washington state passed the mary-j laws recently there's talk of a tokin' cruise so we're almost there... Talk about a Dude vacation if it comes into being! Woo hoo!  :D
