I heard a guy on the radio say that Stevie had surpassed Jimi as master of the Stratocaster. I don't know if that's exactly true, Hendrix was a god. Stevie is right up there with him, though. His version of Voodoo Child is every bit as good as Jimi's.

Yeah, I have to agree, Stevie came damn close to Hendrix. I still marvel at what Hendrix did at Woodstock. Mind blowing! Interesting though; Hendrix was asked in an interview once who he thought the greatest living guitarist was and without a second's hesitation, he answered "Carlos Santana."
Santana has done some excellent guest work. Love his sound with John lee hooker.
Jimi also had tremendous respect for Leslie West, in particular his vibrato. There's a story that came out that Jimi had asked someone in his entourage if he was as good as Leslie West. I tried looking this up on Google but no success.
