As I am sure you all know Maggie Thatcher died this week.
My immediate reaction (although very uncharitable and not at all dudely) was to sing "Ding dong the witch is dead!"
However it seems I am not alone in this train of thought!

So was mine. Ain't that innerestin'? As undudely as it might seem, it's really hard to blame anyone for celebrating her exit. She and Ronnie Rayguns were the public faces of the architects of the destruction of the world economy that has caused great suffering in the past five/six years. Nixon would have done it himself if he hadn't got caught being a bastard, but it was they who got the ball rolling. It's hard to get all heart busted over the departure of one such as her.
I have mixed feelings about her reign....but none over her demise!
I was in the services at the time and she was extremely good to me. (pay rises, equipment etc, but then there was the Falklands!)
I come from a mining town in Scotland. (.nuff said!) I am Scottish and that was where she introduced her Poll tax!
But then she allowed my mother to buy her council house and made it possible for other friends to start their own businesses.
Then there's her love affair with Raygun and Gorby....and the eventual fall off the Berlin wall!
So many ins and so many outs. I guess I think that overall she was bad for the common man and as all politicians are, was just out for herself and her kind in the end.
I won't be shedding tears but I won' be rejoicing either!
I don't have any feelings when any politician dies. Doesn't matter if they're left or right, liberal or conservative, or any of that.
They're all rich spoiled crooks. :)

As I've said before: Anyone who wants to be a politician should immediately be banned for life from being one!
It was originally supposed to be a burden on the one that served, but now it is all about that payday when you leave gov and become a lobbyist (USA problem).

Uruguay does seem a nice place to die. I've been looking at it myself.
OTOH, Colorado has legalized, at least to the extent we can keep Bronco Bomber's domestic terrorists out of our asses, and we seem to be making at least some headway in reigning in the oil and gas industry. Maybe other states will follow our lead on this here progressive agenda. ;D

I got into a bit of an argument here because I'd heard people saying it's wrong to speak ill of the dead, so I was saying:
"I respect Margaret Thatcher for having been the first Woman Prime Minister, and Adolf Hitler was nice to dogs!"
