Just an observation.

It's really not about religion, it is more a problem with belief, when humans believe in something greater than themselves they can accomplish amazing feats of kindness and/or brutality.

Of course we need to believe in things, the trick is to believe while simultaneously knowing your beliefs are based on bullshit. That way if you need to abandon a belief it is not a crushing blow to the psyche. Ekhart Tolle talks about how you can create any religion you want, as long as you remember it is not real.

What sets Dudeism apart from other 'religions' is that we know our mythology is based on fiction, we know our beliefs are just the best ideas we have at the moment, after we argue about it, and probably change them as we go along. We are not here because Dudeism is real, Dudeism is real because we are here.

Ya, that pretty well sums it up I think. The issue is people who believe the bullshit; the lies, the obvious contradictions. I like what Biker Dude said once: religion is adult thumb-sucking.

Gods smile upon our wars, but our fellow man smiles upon our kindness.

They never will, because it is their life purpose to change the world. A world which is evil in their eyes.

I actually used to be one, so I'm intimately familiar with the mindset. After pulling the 2 x 4 outa my butt, I immediately felt sorry for all the people I helped convert. And turned off. So, don't ever think you debating falls on deaf ears.

You & me both, dude. As a recovering Catholic (Irish & French blood) I find it difficult to explain to others how relieved we are after we leave the Holy See behind. :)

That's a little unfair dude. Not all catholic clergy are pederasts - some are sadists.

Talking of sadists and pederasts, you should try being taught by nuns! Bitches of Satan!
