Title: A New saying for dudeism
Post by: HisDudeness7241 on March 21, 2013, 07:37:49 AM
Well first and first most, I am new to this forum and newly added dudeist priest and just wanted to say Hello to everyone. Hi everyone!

Now the saying I came up with is a play on words. My grandmother was hardcore christian, and one thing she would always say to me and has always stuck with me was the saying
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you".  As soon as I came about this site and got ordained, I coined the phrase, or at least I think I have....

"Dude unto to other as you would them dude unto you".  I fell in love with saying, and hopefully everyone else likes it and uses it.

Take it easy man.

Hey, welcome to our unspoiled private residence, man.

I've heard your saying before, but, ya know, what the fuck. Can't be worrying about that shit. Life goes on!

My favourite saying is تفتح فمك إلا إذا ما كنت على وشك أن أقوله هو أكثر جمالا من الصمت
As my wife doesn't speak arabic I can say it too her and she doesn't understand that I'm talking about her.

Nice to see you here at the watering hole, welcome.

Nothing personal but I am very much against just putting Dude into christian sayings and using them, but then I am also against the Dude's prayer for the same reason.

I am against anything that is said to have to be used if you are a Dude.

A Dude just is, a Dude is not what they say.

So then, why are you "say'in"?

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Just joking...  Just being an asshole. How am I doing?

If we had official sayings, then we would have to live up to them. Sounds too exhausting for me.

Let the situation determine what is a Dudely saying for that moment in that space and leave it there. It avoids contradiction and dogma. Take the very Dudely concept of "takin it easy", makes a great saying, but not always, if it were true that it was always Dude then when would it be Dude to not let aggression stand? You can not at once be taking it easy and standing up to fascists.

I'm more worried about us just becoming a second rate knock-off of some other religion.

"Oh Dudeism that's just christianity with the important bits replaced by the word 'Dude'."

;D

I can't abide this...

"Dude unto to other as you would them dude unto you".

If I did, dudes would be drinking way too much beer, eating way too many In-And-out-burgers, and taking it way too easy! ;D

From "This will not stand, this agression will not stand man" to using the parlents of out times, the dude has always just taken you know uh whatever saying it is, and abide to reuse in the appropriate situation. If you wanna say Dude onto you, you know that's cool... that's cool...
In the end, the dude abides.

That was always the problem with the original phrase, what happens when you bump into a masochist who believes in "Dude unto others as you would", they are going to want you to beat them up, so are going to beat you up because they want to do to you as they would have done to them.

A potential Dudeist quote, compliments of Yoda (with an adaptation)

"Dude or Dude-not, there is no try..."
