Indonesia city to ban women 'straddling motorbikes'
The city mayor says women straddling motorbikes are not in line with Islamic values. WTF!!!
A city in the Indonesian province of Aceh which follows Sharia has ordered female passengers not to straddle motorbikes behind male drivers.
Suaidi Yahya, mayor of Lhokseumawe, says it aims to save people's "morals and behaviours". Leaflets have been sent out to government offices and residents to inform them about the regulation.
LMAO!! What if they ride one of these?...

Yup, that is just as dumb, as is the stupidity of "Sharia law."
Fuckin' eh. You know, I'm actually concerned about the momentum these old religions are gaining... look at Greece just recently with their new Muslim parliament, and China's upcoming world dominance. Fucking scary dude. Used to be back in the sixties and seventies, everyone was predicting the decline of religion and the dominance of logic-based science. Ain't happening, all thanks to big oil.

Dead religion seems to be something we are going to have to deal with for some time to come. Fuck me!

Perhaps they want their women to ride motorbikes like a lady used to ride their horse's in olden times, sideways or perhaps they want them to stand up on the seat
what a daft thing to try and ban

The same old feeling.
The entire world attempting to move forward and religion and superstition pulling back as hard as it can.
In the long run religion and faith are not compatible with movement in a positive direction.
They are the worship of ignorance.

We are all familiar with where the "arguments" always lead.
"You can't prove it's not true".
God of the gaps. Worship of ignorance. It's the same old thing.
Tell an appealing and absurd story and insist it's true unless there is, for instance. video evidence that Jesus did not rise from the dead. It flips the argument on it's head. It's true by default no matter how absurd.
It's just childishness and a mindset that makes fools of otherwise rational people.
Quote
God of the gaps is a type of theological perspective in which gaps in scientific knowledge are taken to be evidence or proof of God's existence. The term was invented by Christian theologians not to discredit theism but rather to point out the fallacy of relying on teleological arguments for God's existence. Nonetheless, in current usage, it refers to a specific form of the argument from ignorance fallacy.
Good article on it...

It's only this kind of belief that allows people to enslave others. To resist is to go against God who's word is absolute and unquestioned.
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed. Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved.

When I do not know who said something, and I cannot find it with a google search, I always give credit to Elmer Fudd...I am not the first to do so...years past I had found many a quote attributed to our dear Elmer. 8)

Well I still don't think that anybody would like to live under Sharia law or for that matter "Christian Law".
Either would make Stalin look like a liberal.

Theocracy sucks no matter which theology it claims to revere. Or so it seems to this Dude who's never met an ideology that he didn't find contemptible and who finds it ironic that so many Amerikans are shitting themselves over Sharia law in other parts of the world. I mean, fuck, man, how do they even know the word Sharia? They heard it on the Christian Reconstructionism Propaganda Channel.

That's very true.
Strangely the people I hear most frightened of Sharia law are the ones who'd rather have a Christian Theocracy.
Isn't there an Island somewhere where there could be a cage match?
Trouble is that whoever wins would still suck.

Best answer anyone has come up with so far is "separation of church and state." Whenever the state merges with church or religion, we get religious tyranny. Whenever the church or religion merges with state, we get religious tyranny.... "holy roman empire" ...tyranny, "islamic republic" ...tyranny, "bushido in Japan," ...tyranny, "religious fundamentalism in America"...tyranny, "communism (yup, its a religion) in North Korea, China, USSR" ...tyranny, etc.
It never fails.
Insightful and true. Boy, you just can't trust us humans, can you?
