How many dudes you know, while using their desktop computer with a perfectly good keyboard and mouse, are going to reach up to the monitor over and over again to open folders, start programs or move something around? Does the phrase "damn, my arm is getting tired" make sense? Maybe for a tablet, but a table top PC, or even a laptop, for that matter.

Much like the interface designed for "Minority Report" looks really cool
(http://rickycadden.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/minorityreport.jpg)
but Little Tom (Midget that he is) there had to keep taking breaks because it exhausted him doing the scenes. It's totally unusable.
Now turn it through ninty degrees and lay it on a desk top and it becomes usable again.
And I still go back to this from "Idiocracy".

I ain't moving from Windows 7 till they come out with 9. Same way I stuck with XP before moving to 7. DB - you're absolutely right. Every second iteration is a dud. I guess that new wave of developers can't even find reverse on a soviet tank!
For you Unix weenies, Ubuntu tried to get a leg up in the same way with an icon-based GUI. No one I know liked it; they all reverted to the classic desktop instead. Windows should have such an option...
Does win8 require a touchscreen monitor as well? How much will they cost?
Im with the big H here and will be sticking with win xp and 7.

Very interesting point about his arm getting tired. I guess Tom won't being using Windows 8 on his desktop anytime soon; must be exhausting!

No, it doesn't require it; but they're trying to push it on the public like HP tried and for good reasons, failed. They did their best to make it look cool, but all a person has to do is try it for a while and it won't be long until it's obvious that having to reach out to a vertical screen to manipulate it is really tiresome and stupid...

Notice in the video, you see no mouse on the table. Who uses a PC with no mouse? I remember seeing one, the HP Touch Screen, in a Best Buy Store; it was there for a few weeks and then disappeared. Gee, I wonder why? :o ::)
It's going to raise a generation of kids who can't type.
They will simply learn to use the computer this way and so will not ever learn to type or click.
