Shomer Shabbos! Hmmmmmm, seems to rhyme with "coitus." ;D
Well, after reading some stuff.I think they all deserve each other.
How can you expect this country to move forward when the kids still have to do nation service and get indoctrinated into the old mindset?
Or, they could follow sheldon's idea in the big bang and move it to the Mexico desert ?
I've often been perplexed by the Israeli idea that the dirt upon which they stand is worth facing total extinction. They are an Hebrew island in a sea of Islam. Now, I'm not gonna debate who "rightfully owns" the land, but certainly the circumstances involved in the formation of the Jewish state did not include the opinion of the native Muslims living there in the 1940's. A lotta piss on a lotta rugs man. Seems to me that their determination to stay there with the attitude they are displaying, will eventually cause some type of world war. Millions of innocent lives destroyed for imaginary lines on paper maps. Friends like these, huh Gary? Keep it easy dudes.

As I see it, they are no different than us in America; we said we are a nation because we said we were, period. We also told the rest of the world, if you don't like it, go fuck yourself. That's all there is to it. We had to fight off the biggest and most powerful nation on earth at the time; the British Empire. We were a Republic Nation in the sea of the British Empire. Israel is no different; they are a young nation fighting for survival. Nothing new, plenty of nations have had to do the same.
Another reason Israel needs to exist is because the rest of the world can't be trusted to treat Jews properly; they have been persecuted in virtually every nation on earth; they, the Jews, need a safe haven and nation to live in free from the terror they have long endured.
I think we should support Israel if for any reason because they are a democracy in an area of the world crawling with low life sleazy dictatorships with no respect for human life or human rights. They hate Israel, for among other reasons, because Israel is a free prosperous nation and their very existence as such exposes the corrupt pieces of shit "governments" all around them as the pond scum that they are. It's little wonder that they want Israel dead. Long live Israel!
...and hell, that's coming from a gentile dude; me.
In a book I'm reading about walking the wall (the 'green line' that seperates 'Israel' from the Palestinians) a moderate Palestinian describes the Israeli soldiers as children as they behave with a distinct lack of maturity and the Palestinian children as soldiers as despite their lack of maturity, they are willing to confront the Israeli soldiers.About evenly matched I suppose.Apart from the guns and the snatch squads and the detention centers. For a perspective, there was a mini series on not so long ago called 'The Key'.It's available on DVD as I bought it.I recommend it.
Yep. You are correct we are a country because we said so, and we had to do a little work to get here, but some of those people we told to go fuck themselves weren't just the British. We also told the millions of natives who were here first to go fuck themselves too. I 'm not saying it was a "wrong" thing to do or whatever, I am no ones judge, right and wrong are subjective and always open to debate. But I believe we probably could of handled it much better and I feel Israel could have done the same with the Palestinians.
And yeah the Jews have certainly had their share of gutters, but I don't think the way to be treated like everyone else is place yourself in a mind field of hate and stare everyone down who looks at you. It's like a black couple moving into a rich white subdivision in the late 1800's. Yeah they might have every right to be there, but would the point be worth the danger? Maybe to some, but maybe not to the children who live in the battlefield.
I know they are our friends and people of freedom do need to stick together, but another long endless war in the desert that consumes massive amounts of resources and human lives is not worth pride. We all could get out of this easy if everyone would just chill the fuck out, but Israel is always in a pissing match with someone. Yeah, I know some of the Arabs are a bunch of reactionary assholes, but the way out is not by posturing and saving face. Be the change yourself.
It's not easy and you have to take some on the chin, but it is the way out. And don't forget that many of those dictator assholes over there that are in charge were put there by us for our own benefit.
I guess it just comes down to where you draw the line. Me, I don't feel that life should just be so easily wasted by The Big Lebowski's out there. I don't want to see more pointless death that can be avoided by a "Fuck it." And yeah of course this is, just, like my opinion man. Keep it easy Dude.
And the book of Esther dudes. It starts off reading like the Arabian Nights but just when you think it's all going to end right it turns into a horror story. The Jews dudes, they carry a lot of resentment.
It's not just a question of whether the Israelis have the right to hold onto Israel but really it's about can they justify illegal expansion into the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Golan Heights and the persecution of arabs and misappropriation of their houses in East Jerusalem. Push people too far and you can't really complain when they fight back.
As long as America is a Christian nation, they will support Israel, especially the born-againers, who believe Christ's return/the rapture/the 1,000 years of peace are all contingent on Israel becoming a nation (which happened in 1948 or so). God's chosen people, right? How's that for arrogance...

I think you got a point dude but I'm sure there are a lot of geo-political ins and outs feeding into the who 51st state thing.
I'm not so sure Israel can really count as a fully fledged democracy when its significant arab minority do not have equal rights.

Since when did that stop the states from backing up a middle eastern country. ;)

Not by law, as in the US, Arabs have exactly the same rights under the Israeli Constitution as anyone else, they are not disenfranchised. Does that always work out perfectly in practice? No, and neither does it here, the US, or anywhere else in the world. Why single out Israel? A country like ours that had legal slavery for 80 years of it's life has little to say to a nation such as Israel. Like the US, Israel is not perfect.

You might just as well say 'like the US, North Korea is not perfect'. It isn't a very convincing line of argument that a country is deserving of support.

No, totally wrong. Israel is in no way like an evil destructive dictatorship such as North Korea. Bad analogy, dude. Very bad. North Korea is a horrible communist poverty stricken dictatorship, Israel is a modern open prosperous democracy. No comparison at all.
The root of the problem as I see it is that so many countries are trying to claim land based on what the world was like centuries or millennia ago. It's happening everywhere: the far east, middle east, Africa, south America.
There's also the religious aspect but I'll leave that to those more engaged to discuss ...

That is a problem, yes. We in the US had the reverse problem; the Indians living here believed that they had claim to the land because they had lived here for "many moons" and that the "great spirit" had given it to them. We just said "we don't give a shit" and took it anyway, upon which we then built malls, theme parks and big ole' dams (among other things). But not to worry, we "reserved" all of the gambling halls for the Indians and now they're filthy rich and buy the best fire water the white man has to offer. ;D

Are a group of American Indians not sueing the state next their reserve for turning them into alcoholics?
Perhaps indigenous peoples like the Indians or aborigines have a stronger claim though. It's difficult with Israel to say they were there first ?

You got it Dude. Too many people willing to murder other people for ghosts of the past. If you think that real living people, who's only crime is being born where they are, deserve to suffer unimaginable horrors of war because you, who probably live in a nice quiet beach community, think they die should face down in the muck so we can have our nice little outpost of democracy that Jesus can crash at when he returns is some really fucked uptight tight thinking. The Jews are not totally wrong. The Arabs are not totally wrong. They just need to chill the fuck out and talk without acting like a bunch of fucking amateurs.
My beef with Israel is, instead of honest, compassionate work for peace, they do whatever the fuck they want and piss on everyone else's rug. Yes, the many Arabs are being assholes. So what? Let the past go and move the fuck on. Israel seems determined to drag us into war with the whole middle east and doesn't give a shit who gets hurt. Abide that if you can.

Undoubtedly, but that makes as much sense as a fat kid suing McDonalds for making him eat too many french fries and hot fudge sundaes. I mean, get real, how about personal responsibility of the parents and the Indians drinking too much fire water........

That's pretty much the agreement of many Indians. Some Indians have even put forth the idea that Indians' physiology make them more susceptible to alcoholism. (And I'm part Cree. :) )
As for Israel vs Arabia, it's like the Hatfields & McCoys (who have made up). Their common history and hatred dragged everybody else into it.
Time to abide.
JLMO, man!
Too bad we can't all just get a long, I mean universal dude like laid-back-ness would be nice to see in the world for a change. Maybe we need a "International Dude Day" where everyone just relaxes man and spends at least one day not acting like a dick.

I hear you dude... the issue with that is while some feel treated equitably, others feel they're getting gypped (by the good lord or not)... it raises their ire. Getting along on everyone's terms is by its very nature mutually exclusive, just like trying to reconcile all religions into one... AIN'T gonna happen. We (the royal "we") all have differing opinions about politics, right and wrong, and yes - religion. (Think jihad).
The day we're all on the same page, is the day we're all nuked, and the ants and cockroaches take over. Don't mean to be so negative, but until mankind evolves WAY further than where we're currently at, wars will continue to characterise our typical way of resolving our differences.
Edit: I feel we all have to do our part in exemplifying the dude way of life... our example may catch on!

Sadly, you are correct, Sir. Let's hope dudemanity evolves as fast as possible.
I think the problem lies in the fact that if you get gypped you can hire a lawyer to sue someone.I think it was Lenin who said 'In a revolution, first shoot all the lawyers'.
Famous Quotes / Quotations...
The quotes from King Henry VI are amongst Shakespeare's most famous including 'The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers'.
How much of today's problems go back to the way that land was divided up after WW1 and WW2?
It's amazing.
League of Nations and UN divided things up without regard to ethnic and religious groups.
Israel is a bit different of course. Zionism is pretty specific in that regard.
Actually,Africa was divided up in 1889 at a conference in Paris.
