The rise of passive-aggressive wi-fi names

;D DB Note: I named ours "TheDudeAbides." 8)

Some wireless internet users have been setting their network names to send snide messages to their neighbours. Why?

Predominantly, it's about noise. And sex. Well, noisy sex. That, and "stealing" broadband.

Wireless internet users are typically asked to assign names to their networks when installing new routers. These names can be seen by anybody within range who searches for networks.

O the thinks I've never thought. I don't believe I've encountered this, or maybe just never noticed this. But now, I thinks me will.

That's a hoot! Never would have thought of that.  I'll have to change mine to "No_wifi_freeloading" or something...

DB: On our home network (not visible to neighbours), my main PC is called "Dude", my laptop is "Walter", and my print server PC is "Donny"....

No, but it talks too much like Donny (in Fargo... gotta watch it to catch my drift, and the Cohen bother's writing as well...)  it spits out a blank page before every print job.  Apparently networked printers do that to separate various user's print jobs. It makes for a funny metaphor to Donny's character.
