Title: Just discovered "Breaking Bad"
Post by: Hominid on September 12, 2012, 11:39:45 AM
A buddy brought over season 1 on DVD, and I was hooked. Anyone following it?  I'd have to upgrade to a movie bundle on Bell Satellite just to get it (Ain't payin' another $20 a month... so I got Netflix instead).

It's raw drama REALLY well done, with tongue-in-cheek humour, and realistic acting. No fluff, really quite original.

You are in for a treat dude...one of the few shows I watch on TV. Sorry to tell you though....this is its last season...only 5 more episodes to go.
I missed it the first two years myself and caught up renting dvds from Blockbuster before they shut down their store in our area. NetFlix is probably the way to go...get to watch them all back top back without all the commercials.

It's great!
They just finished the last episode of the year this past Sunday.
For some reason it was a short season.
I typically buy them as soon as they become available on Amazon for streaming.
If all you've seen is season one then you are still in for a wild ride.
The best is yet to come. By far.
Lot of twists and turns and the Walter Character goes through some changes.

If you haven't watched Justified I'd recommend that also.
And of course Deadwood.

Hopefully Netflix will start streaming Northern Exposure some day. One of my favorites.
Ideally with the original music but even if they need to go to the compromised second draft I'd take that.

DEADWOOD!! Yeah it makes vulgarity an art form! Gotta Love it! 8)
Breaking Bad split this season up into 5 episodes each....this is the Last season. Have no idea what I am going to watch after this.

Speaking of F bombs; I think the F Bomb count on TBL is 260.

Really!?
How can that be.
There wasn't much of a resolution.

I thought the other seasons where 13 episodes each.

Yeah but a great arc to the story.
It is tragic that it was cancelled before the conclusion.
Still the 3 seasons are some of the best TV ever.

I just cannot get into tv for tv's sake....I don't care much for drama or shit or shouting or cop programmes or   murder investigations or hospital programmes or any TV that doesn't make me smile.

Certainly not the news or indeed the weather! I live in England. Our weather is totally unpredictable! With that I wake up every day and see what it's like....if I leave my front door and get wet...it's probably raining....if it's warm...then hey...if I need sunglasses then guess what!? It's sunny!

All of those things can happen between leaving home and driving to work!

The Simpsons or comedy (big bang theory) yep... light entertainment....not soaps...They're worse!

And sport.

A better man than me once said that man's greatest achievements are written on the back page of newspapers...our tragedies are page one!

Peace dudes.

Yeah Breaking bad. Discovered it earlier this year and watched all the seasons up to the latest. I don't watch tv, as such, rather I download (torrent) tv shows.

Breaking Bad is like Dexter, in that it's good tv, but you need to take it in small doses as it gets heavy. But I guess that's the point of it!

A work of genius equivalent to the Sistine Chapel.

I'm almost done season 2 of Breaking bad, and I have to say it wasn't near as good as season 1, which had more interesting plot development; not so much talking about this'n that.  Seems as though once the plot was established, it kinda coasted... What can I expect for season 3 & 4?

Breaking Bad is brilliant. I've watched every episode so far. I kind of regret the fact I watched them all in the space of less than 2 months. I should have spread them out a bit more and enjoyed such quality for longer. Alas, now I'm waiting for the final season to come out...

They are much better that way.
Marathon viewing. Much more immersive.
It's great when the killer ending has you on edge and you can carry that enthusiasm straight through rather than waiting a week.
I have enjoyed Breaking Bad, Justified, Deadwood, Rome and others streaming them from Amazon.
It's by far the way to go IMHO.

It seems that anything on Showtime is awesome.  Just finished Californication.  Loved that one too.
