Title: The zen of Walter
Post by: Leopoldrose on September 02, 2012, 11:35:33 AM
So dudes, I have been thinking a lot about the dynamic between the dude and Walter, and by extension, Walters place in dudeist hagiography. After the first bazillion viewings of our sacred source, it appears that Walter is a cautionary tale, the straight man against which the dudes abiding is revealed.

After my second bazillion viewings, I am convinced that Walter is something much more than that. Indeed There could be no dude without Walter. If you watch their complicated and shifting interactions, the dynamic of the yin and yang symbol is brilliantly on display.

Each time the dude strays into uptight thinking, Walter soothes him and encourages him to just take it easy or points out that it's the stress talking. The same goes for when Walter escalates. They are something more than buddies, they are symbiotic.

In the old testament, the word Satan is translated literally as the opponent. Instead of being adversaries with God, the opponent serves as a catalyst for positive growth. Calm seas don't make good captains, and without stress one could not overcome uptight thinking and just take it easy.

So let's raise an oat soda to our inner Walter and take it easy on ourselves when we are more Walter than the dude. Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes well, the bar eats you.

Yeah I'm a bit stuck in a Walter phase with the mIni me's just now. Guess I'm not use to spending so much time with them but hopefully the dude side will kick in and our troubles will be over.

Is there a bowling alley near you dude?
A good place to take the kids and get back in touch with your inner dude....just saying. 8)

(Oops! Just saw on the other thread you found one "a stone's throw" for you place! Awesome dude!)

Hey Leopolodrose - this would make a great Dudespaper article. Any interest in writing one?

Sure man, I think I have your email from an article I wrote about a year ago. Is it the "duder" address that I should send it to?
