in what way?  money? a job that you dont mind doing?

i guess, what im trying to say is, if you are eating and the job isnt hell, could you really ask for more?  its like in american beauty, when he worked at that burger joint and had no more major responsibility.  seems like thats how you should go about it... but thats just like my opinion dude...

I think you could and should ask for a lot more.
It's important to be compensated for all sort of things. Intelligence, hard work, and mainly not being a paraquat.

I'd say that as far as the Dudeism thing and a person's particular means of "feeding the monkey" it's all about trade offs. Everybody has a cost reward metric. For Dudes it tends to be a bit different than the average shmuck slaving the 9 to 5 and heading for a heart attack.
I think it was Jerry Garcia that said "If you win in the rat race you are still a rat".

.

You know, I never really called for status at all.  Even when I was in the military.  Sure with more rank came more money but I also had a lot of headaches.  And I was really upright.  Obviously pre-dudeism days for me.  I guess what I'm saying is, I go out everyday and "feed the monkey" the best way I can.  If good things happen, then awesome.  I mean if you will it dude, it is no dream...  Right?

Whenever I ride on a train, I always get a seat. And an excellent view out the window. It never fails to amaze me that someone trusted me enough to let me drive the damn things. On my own!

I think the job itself isn't important as long as it fulfills more needs than it generates.

I've been working for over 4 years for the same company as 'direct care staff' (read: babysitter) for houses of adults with mental handicaps. Despite my long time with the company(even more impressive on account of the high turn-over rate they have), my pay has been $7.25/hr since 2008. But fuck it, it's a job that works around my school schedule, lets me wear flip-flops and shorts to work whenever I so please, and most of the residents in the house are pretty cool guys. In fact, this job has probably been influential in leading me to dudeism, as I realized that retarded people are hardly anything like most of the stereotypes. They're people just like all of us, and being able to dig the style of people who are like a child wandering in the movie theater is an amazing thing.
