So how do you sin against Dudeism?
What would be an example of some sins?
And then what would be the penance for those specific sins?
I think one sin against Dudeism would be to get all uptight and make yourself all worried about some stupid shit that you can't be worried about.
Penance should be to go out and drink 2 caucasians and 4 oat sodas, and a little coitus never hurts. ;D
That's fucking interesting, that's fucking interesting.

Burning a j in another dude's pad without asking "mind if I burn a j?" To do so would be a very rude undude sin.
Thats, like, ah, just my opinion, man.
One big Dudeist sin is to take yourself too seriously.
Dudeists see what the real priorities in life are (being true to yourself and your friends and to what creates genuine meaning in your life) and live their life accordingly.
That doesn't mean that you become a careless jerk, it means the opposite, really. The Dude shows deep care for others (even jerks like the Big Lebowski when Walter pulls him from the wheelchair). The Dude shows concern on a genuinely human level when people are being genuinely human.
However, he rejects all the phoney facades and games people play. There's a real art to rejecting people when they're assholes, reactionaries, nihilists, etc., and engaging and showing compassion for people when they're being genuinely human.
Cultivating that art, for me, is what Dudeism is about.
Not giving notes............very undude.

well said. i also think its the creed of the dude to stay out of the way of worldly dramas as much as possible, but if you do get caught up in some shit, as we all do, just stay cool and take it easy, ride it out, take everything and everyone with a grain of salt, and have faith that in the end, you WILL get it.

In the end, it'll all work out, because as a feller wiser than muself once said, "...that's the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin' itself..."but that's just, like , my opinion, man.
Wow! Zan meine frau is a sinner! She can't stay relaxed to save her life!
Ich, on ze othzer hand....have always been very relaxed! Even bevore ze Big Lebowski!
NO FUNNY STUFF!
Being very undude, i.e., a negative attitude in league play.
The universe starts to take it out on you anyway, so I guess the only real pennance is to go back to takin' it easy for all the sinners.
Sins (and Penances)
1. Not listening to The Dude's story ("Shut he fuck up...{state the sinner's name})
2. Drawing a firearm during league play ("Will you just take it easy")
3. Calling The Dude "Jeffery Lebowski" (getting your rug taken)
4. Fucking a stranger in the ass (having your car killed)
5. Stalking a Brother Shamus ("Fuck off, DaFino!")
6. Dating a Nihilist (a severed pinky toe..by 3 p.m., with nail polish)
7. Rescheduling a Semi-final (getting fucked in the ass next Wednesday instead)
I'm sure there are lots more, I just need to go get my mind limber...
Being a nihilist, fascist, reactionary or a general dick (rod or johnson). Theres' no reason, no FUCKIN' reason, dudes should be undude to one another, am I wrong?

Good will among dudes should be a general principle of dudeism. Fuckin' eh.

Except we don't accept christian guilt based theological concepts.
Just because it's fun doesn't mean you should be made to feel guilty about it.
Sin still suggests a right and wrong way to do things, these are not Dudeist concepts.
IMDO.

Don't think you can sin against something that doesn't care if you sin. Besides; he's out there takin' er easy for all us sinners anyway, so we're covered. ;D

Skyrim break (took the week off to play the game).

And I don't do games!

It arrived Thursday (10/11/11) I stopped playing Sunday for a couple of hours when the boys came round (Klaus and son, the godson from hell). I am level 32 now. Have finished the thieves guild and am head of that, am working on the dark brotherhood (assasins), and the champions (the fighters guild). I have yet to decide if I want to join the legion or the stormcloaks.
It actually seems to be a more adult story construction this time (less cheesy).
The main problem is the fact that nearly every other person has something they want you to do. Too much to focus on at times so I tend to concentrate on one group at a time.
As you can see I'm loving it so far.
;D
My special lady friend was keen on the elder scrolls. Is this a continuation or something new?

I have to say a bit of both.
It's set in a new region of the world (Skyrim), but there are threads that run through the whole lot. The societies are there again (Thieves guild, Mages guild, etc)
As I said before it seems slightly more adult.

Yeah, it's a damn good game. By the way, the reason it seems like everybody has a quest for you is because there are literally an unlimited amount of quests. You can thank the new AI system for that.

This statement wraps 'er all up--ties the universal room together, so to speak. Ups and downs, strikes and gutters, the universe
is balance. Karma's a bitch, and the pendulum
will swing the other way eventually, whether it's in this lifetime, or the next, or the next. Penance is irrelevant; the universe will set things straight.

Mark it 8 dude...

I have come to believe that if there is any "Sinning against Dudeism" ....and therefore an "Appropriate Penance..." it would be burning a J, enjoying an oat soda, getting us a lane, mixing a Caucasian, driving around, Creedence tapes, bowling soundtracks, a free beeper, 20 grand, man, an occasional flashback, Tai Chi on your new rug, jerking off manually, definitely keeping my Johnson (I need my Johnson), zesty coitus, another Caucasian, making the semis and slacking.

That is to say; why can't "Penance" be fun and dude-like? ;D .....am I wrong?

It's not so much as if you believe in Karma, it's whether Karma believes in you!
