Title: Blessing a new home.
Post by: Rev. PikaSonic on July 15, 2012, 03:48:00 PM
Hello dudes,

I am going to be moving next week and I decided as an ordained Dudeist Priest I would like to bless my new bungalow. I have some thoughts on how I'm gonna go about it but I thought I would ask the rest of our quiet beach community if they have done anything like that or if they have any ideas.

Much obliged. :)

What are you tryna do?

Not sure where Dudeism would come down on the "blessing" thing.
I suspect that beyond some "not rolling of shabbos" sentiments the issue falls outside the normal purview. But I'm sure that the cerimony, if accompanied by cerimonial drinks and smoke might be quite Dude like.

I was just thinking of a small speech to say to bless the house and then just have some burgers. :) Any ideas for that speech?

There's always room for a stripper.
They tie the room together.
Just don't piss on them. Unless they are into the whole .......
Lost my train of thought.

No pissing intended. Just saying that it's not appropriate in my current living situation. That's all.

So, I have about 3 days until the big moving day and a lot of shit has already been moved to the new private residence. I came up with a little blessing speech and have made a few tweaks, and I hope to make a few more tweaks to it before the move. When I bless the new place on Monday I will post it here (I kinda want it to be a surprise). If there's anything you want to suggest that I put in the blessing speech, let me know. :)

So this is the speech I used for blessing my new home:

After much exhaustion,
boxes moved, un-dudeness overcome
You have moved from one private residence to another
Let us haves some burgers, some drinks,
a few laughs, and our trobules are over
As we abiding celebrate this moving day with a blessing
May you have more strikes than gutters
May you have more ups than downs
Under the safety of this roof
For here you can just take it easy,
as you did at your last private residence
And you shall be happy and enjoy your life in this new place that has come to light.
Because a bungalow is a place not for all your crazy shit
But a refuge from all the carpet pissers, real reactionaries, and human paraquat
that await you behind the front door
So that we can abide by it later
as the Dude abides.

Let me know what you think. :)

Guys, I need some advice. I'm about to move into a new house, too. The problem is that the house is in terrible condition, it doesn't even have interior doors. I don't want to spend a lot of money on repairs, so I'm looking for a good door and window installation company that will do the job inexpensively.

Personally I have always nailed a blanket to the wall in lieu of curtains and hooked up the stereo and big screen.
Followed by invitations, a keg, some bong hits and hilarious hijinks.
Alas marriage has put an end to such things.
Now the routine generally involves a torturous day at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I like yer style Dude!
