Tuna record Fukushima pollution
Pacific Bluefin tuna caught off the coast of California have been found to have radioactive contamination from last year's Fukushima nuclear accident.
The fish would have picked up the pollution while swimming in Japanese waters, before then moving to the far side of the ocean.

Just saw them talking about this on the news. Apparently the levels of radiation in the fish are not strong enough to be deadly. Of course, you must admit, radioactive fish sound like the plot of some terrible B-movie form the '50s.
And BikerDude, keep your fingers crossed. Having a real-life Mothra would be awesome.
It just goes to show you that we are not isolated from each other; what happens in one country often affects another.

A story in today's New York Times describes how chefs at some of Manhattan's fanciest restaurants have purchased a gadget not usually seen in kitchens: radiation detectors. Owners at some sushi restaurants here in and across the country report that customers are starting to ask questions about the origins of their fish. Some owners are counting on Japanese suppliers to tell them the truth about radiation levels in the fish they're buying, while others have stopped buying from Japan altogether, even if it means that some items no longer appear on the menu.

That meter (whatever it is) is reading zero...it's fully deflected to the left and the scale seems to go from Zero to 600....sheesh!
