Dudes, just found this site and have been cruising it's contents... Turns out I've been a practicing Dudeist my whole life. For years now, I've had people comment on how much like "The Dude" I am, and I admit there are many similarities. Turns out, I live next door to The Dudes pad in Venice. When they were scouting for locations to film, the location scout visited my bungalow, but felt it wasn't "down" enough... a polite way of saying my pad is too nice. I suggested he look at the bungalows across the alley. They loved it, displaced my neighbor for a few days, and the rest is cinematic history. Since then, the place has had several tenants come and go, but here I am, still living in my tiny bungalow, living the dude life. Currently, the tenant in "The Dude's" pad is a former Hells Angel, who has done a lot to fix the place up. Although he's a bit too uptight to be a Dudeist, we are friends and he's proud of his current claim to the Holy Dude's lair.
So, to all of you practicing Dudes, "not on the rug, man".

Yes, the Dude's abode abides, but in a much more Zen like way than before. Said abode remained a shit-hole until only 2 or 3 years ago, then they kicked everyone out, remodeled all six units, then jacked the rent to nearly four times more than before. Pretty sure they're paying $2000/month for a 500 square foot one bedroom. Granted, it is less than a mile to the beach and it happens to be one of the quieter parts of Venice. Still, that's a lot of capitalist pig extortion money!!!
