Cool stuff! I've launched a few model rockets in my time, but nothing like that one! My niece's husband was into high-powered rocketry - they send off huge rockets that require air clearance! It's a fun family-oriented hobby, that's for sure.

I can't believe that project was actually underwritten... who paid for it? What a hoot ...
Far fucking out, man! That gives me an idea; maybe I can get the EU to fund my dudeist life style! A "Dude in Space" project. ;D(http://dudeism.com/smf/Themes/classic/images/post/thumbup.gif) Or if not in space, just fund my quest to be a life time slacking dude. ;D

i paid for it, along with all other british tv license holders. now i appreciate some people hate top gear but i cant think of another tv program that could get away with trying to launch a car into space.

Personally I would like that bit of the license fee back (the bit that goes towards feeding Clarksons ego and making him think he has anything worth listening to at all, so in fact the bit that covers top gear entirely).
Yours annoyed from Pompey.

My dad does this stuff in his free time, but not quite as big.

Would be cool to see it launch in person!
Rockets like that are awesome to see launch in person. I've never seen one of that size launch, but I have seen numerous ones close to it. The state of Oregon only lets people launch up to a certain size engine. Actually a few years back for awhile they made the larger ones illegal (All because some freaking state reactionaries thought people shouldn't be allowed access to them "explosives" or what not.) , but the state rocket groups challenged the law in court and won.
