Title: Hey american dudes, what is, like, your opinion, man?
Post by: The Travelling Dude on January 30, 2012, 06:24:36 AM
Today I came across this website and I wonder what my fellow dudes over in america think about it (any everyone elses opinions too, of course)

kickthemallout.com

It's fucking interesting, man. I feel like this idea is something I would get behind if I was an american voter. Doesn't anyone around there give a shit about the rules?

Edit: I just noticed that DigitalBuddha posted this website in another thread so uh, nevermind dudes.

At first blush the thing that comes to mind is that I'm never fond of the distain for "Career Politicians".
I find that the evil are politicians that come from the business sector.  Typically a person who leaves the Business sector to go into politics has the interests of a very narrow group of people in mind.
Granted there can be career politicians who are as corrupt but the breed of people who seek out a career in politics for the RIGHT reason would be termed career politicians.
Once up a time there were a lot of people who were genuinely motivated to get into politics and make changes. Universities were full of them. Of course most probably went on to "play the game" just like the rest. The problem is the rules of the game. Money wins and idealism ends up alcoholic.
We can blame ourselves. The voters for being suckers.
I mean currently Newt Gingrich is running as being the candidate opposed to Washington insiderism and lobbyist culture. Why? Because he says he is. Has nothing to do with the decades of actual actions that point to the opposite.

To be honest I really don't think it matters.  Like the Who said.  "Met the new boss, same as the old boss".

So for me I will have a Caucasian, kick back and take'r easy.

I think it's a good idea, but at the same time there hardly seems to be an ideal candidate (that makes it very far) in U.S. politics.

As a side note in the President's state of the union address he mentioned that he would not vote through any measure that would raise taxes for anyone that makes below $250,000 a year (because people that make over, I am willing to say, between $110,000 and $250,000 a year are "middle class"). I thought it was interesting to note that the highest paid members of congress are paid about $240,000 a year. I mean if they don't have to include money made from public appearances or side ventures It seems like pandering by the President to get in a tax hike.

Politics, it grinds my gears.

Sounds like a plan to me! Lets get ourselves a lane. 8)

Well said! (http://dudeism.com/smf/Themes/classic/images/post/thumbup.gif) I wish MORE voters understood that!

But that would involve them actually looking at news and reading books and seeking out information rather than just settling for the typical partisan echo chamber that masquerades as news and reinforces peoples ludicrously over simplified world view.

Man, sometimes politics really grinds my gears, thanks for reminding me how to deal with it.

I have enough trouble keeping up with the internal politics at work let alone trying to get my head round bloody country wide and world wide politics.

I thought I had heard that the regular law and sharia would co-exist on the books. That makes no sense to me. If you were to steal would you serve jail time, do community service, and get your hand cut off, or would it be more of a pick a door number one through four type of thing (one of the doors being not guilty)?

I assume you mean this...

There is law and there is law.
These are just a bunch of idiots proclaiming their own laws.
I would call upon all of our British Dudes to go to those areas and constantly and publicly break their "laws". Truth is that unless you break the ACTUAL law there is nothing they can do to stop you.
I would love to see a massage parlor/adult bookstore opened immediately in every one of these zones.

For a minute there you had me worried.

This is no more a problem than me going round and putting up posters insisting the opposite and claiming areas of the country are under Dudeist law.

again the extremist few shouting above the moderate majority.

While I completely disagree with the way our Government operates. That site right there is a tea party site.
And while I agree hitting re-set on congress would do it some good, smaller government is not better government.

I think if congress and the senate were to be replaced, something like jury duty should be put in its place. It is your civil duty (granted you can pass the necessary test/interview to show you are up to the task.) And then the country would truly be run by the people.

And as for Presidential Elections, each candidate should get equal amounts of money. No corporation or financial involvement in the process.

I wouldn't be down with replacing the vote with a lottery.
Arguably congress is the most representative of all branches since it is specific to a district of voters.
My vote is to get the influence of money out of the equation and hopefully stop the misinformation that people are fed by the media.
