Title: Free Excel Online
Post by: BryanJohns1984 on January 20, 2012, 09:46:35 AM
Hi everyone,

I need some help here. Currently I'm uninstalling any illegal programs/software from my laptop. This is a big movement that I ever made for this new year after realized that this is a bad ethic to keep someone software without his/her permission. One of software that I did uninstalled just now is Microsoft Office. So now I need to use free excel editor for my reports before I buy a legal copy of MS Office. Do you know any site offer free excel online editor. Any help is much appreciated.

Regards
Bryan

Check out Office Libre or Open Office.  Both are free, and compatible with MS.

Hope that helps.

I really love both of these.  Open source and free.

Superior in the long run, slow to react to changes in thechnology due to the peer revue nature of the development pyramid.

If you do go with open office remember to download the spelling and grammar extensions; not knowing this cost me many a point on college papers.

In some cases that is very true, but I think it goes fast enough to keep up with the expectations and needs of the end user community. It's just more cool and powerful to develop software open source.

I'm originally a Unix dude, back when Windows was in infancy. So, I have a soft spot for any version, especially Ubuntu.  For the masses, the various unices are okay, but - they still doesn't cut it with programs like Photoshop, iTunes, Photomatix Pro, Map Source, my power backup unit's software, and others. Yes, there's alternatives, but there's always some kind of trade-off or compromise. Even in Open Office - the word processor won't print labels or do a mail merge with the same panache as MS Word. Nor will Gimp do layers and actions like Photoshop. Then there's all the incompatible plug-ins that serious users employ daily.  I also had major issues with both printer and scanner drivers...

So, not to discourage anyone from using an alternative to Windows and Mac; you need to be a serious tinkerer to squeeze out the same performance.
