Title: Teaching Dudeism
Post by: DigitalBuddha on January 17, 2012, 06:19:00 AM
Was thinking about the subject of "teaching Dudeism." Perhaps an accredited College of Dudeism. Was also thinking how cool it would be to have Dudeism Conventions. Not a silly LebowskiFest, but a real convention of world wide Dudeist.

But, back to Teaching Dudeism; thoughts on establishing Dudeist teaching centers and places of laid back Dudeist fellowship, online, and in actual locations. A Dudeist meditation center would be cool too.

Thoughts from other Dudeist brethren on these matters?

We can have our first meeting at the bar in the bowling ally. All kidding aside, that sounds awesome. I wonder how many dudes are in the Phoenix AZ area that can meet here. Brings up a good point. I wish there was a way to find dudes... uh... I mean dudeists. They have places to find dudes. It's called a gay bar. I love gay dudes, but I am on a strict vajayjay diet.

I digress, I wonder if there is a way to locate other followers of dudeism in a general location. I would imagine that is the first step to having a meeting event.

I asked that another post and m5 was good enough to explain. Can't remember which thread it was in but now know you need a google account.
Perhaps m5 will be good enough to reiterate :)

You need to create an account with google.

Need to log on to google maps.

Once logged on then you click "Edit" that should appear in the top left of the screen.

Place your pin (make it a pin if you can).

Any "Knob" (that's Johnson for our US Viewers) pictures will be deleted.

Then Click "save" and log out.

"Teaching Google Maps" ;D

Hominid it's nothing to do with you not having selected the map is it? The actual url is:

No, there's still no "Edit" option that you speak of (that I can see).  Not sure what to say dude...

Not sure what to tell you  either dude. I went to the link Meekon5 provided then went up to the right hand corner and signed in. As soon as I provided my password the map opened up again with the "Edit" option in a red box near the top of the left side white column where all the names are listed.

Try using Internet Explorer to login, Hominid. On rare occasions, I have seen Firefox unable to function "perfectly" on sites "built for and optimized for Internet Explorer." It's a long shot, but that might be the problem. It's happen to me a couple of times in the past. I had to switch over to Internet Explorer to get a webpage to work properly, especially when forms or control boxes are involved. Depending on what version of Firefox you are using, that might be the problem.

A Dudeist meditation center would be cool too.

A Dudeist can meditate anywhere really. The Duder just so happen to do his in the tub, or the rug in the middle of the living room. He also found his center out on the lanes with his best bros. The key is to find your place, find your bros and your spot to get your groove on.
:)
Happy 420 all. .

I don't think Dudeism has anything really to offer to Dudes(other than community), it's the pseudo and non Dudes that need what Dudeism has to offer. Or those trying to find their Dudelyness, but feel they come up short. I bet most around here are not sure if they found Dudeism or if Dudeism found them, but it seems most feel it just fits right in there.

I keep thinking that Dudeist teaching is what we do, not what we need. Not saying it is about converting people, but inspiring them, sometimes they just need to know that we are out there, chill'n for a better tomorrow.

Thing is the achieve, achieve, achieve mantra has been hammered into our collective conscience, and the world is seeking balance from that exhausting affair. Like the sage, we are not meant to go and convert, we are meant to go and help. Sure there is some room for technical stuff for the Dude, ideas for doing weddings, blessing(?) and engaging others, but you really can't teach being Dude, you can only help find it. It's what can we do for the non Dudes out there, that's where our real work lies.

A master Dudeist sage can meditate in the third row behind home plate of Fenway on game day, it's the Walters, Treehorns and Big Lebowskis who could use a lesson in how to just take er easy.

Just some out loud thinking.

I'm so down! In another thread I was asking where the LA area Dudeists are! I want to start just such a gathering place, and I have a chill venue in mind too!
