Title: The Idler - UK based annual
Post by: brother_erwin on January 07, 2012, 11:43:40 AM
Hi there,
I wonder whether our quiet beach community is aware of "the idler", a UK-based "annual periodical that campaigns against the work ethic and promotes liberty, autonomy and responsibility." http://idler.co.uk/about/ (http://idler.co.uk/about/).
The name behind it is Tom Hodgkinson who has published a number of books on the issue of idling and a relaxed and rewarding (not in material terms) lifestyle.
I find it inspiring and I figure more of us could like it, too.

Does he have a job, Sir?

Looks like a very dude like publication. Great find, brother_erwin. Thanks for posting.

Yeah, really genuinely nice guy and a really great host.  Would love to live back in London so I could attend some of the great things they have going on over there.  A true modern philosopher (and humble ukulele player to boot).

Though he does remind me too much of an ex-headmaster I had as a kid.

All that bloody latin stuff.

Yeah, Latin, bah!

"Agricole, agirocola..."

Oh wait, that wasn't me, that was the Dead Poet's society!

Never mind ;D

Is your name really William Blake??? Not a white man's trick?  :o Than you are a dead poet, er, man...

Every night and every morn, some to misery are born.
Every morn and every night, some are born to sweet delight.

Well, yes, the Latin thing, well... Bloody awful recollections come up. And they are not about the declinations...But then again, I suppose you can roll very undudely, too, as we can take from the example of Jesus. So it is not the subject matter as such but the way you do it, am I wrong?

Never mind, I am glad to hear that dudeism and idler.uk are befriended (is this proper English?) and have linked up.

Hey there Bruder Erwin...long time dude....I think you're right...befriended is a good word!

An then there are those that

Every night brings sweet delight but every morn their sorrows borne

Or every morn is sweet delight and every slumber brings them fright...

Life sucks.... but we'll all get over it!

Peace my friend.

Hey Caesar,
ja, been somewhere down on the trail for some time. But it's good to be back here for a sarsaparilla  or two!

Take care, friend, and peace with you, too.
