Title: Raspberry Pi PC gets ready to launch
Post by: DigitalBuddha on December 24, 2011, 09:45:04 AM
The eagerly anticipated Raspberry Pi home computer is about to go into production.

The $25 (?16) machine is being created in the hope that it will inspire a new generation of technology whizz kids.

A quick look at a pre-production Raspberry Pi board and in particular the video output capabilities, showing an HD video running in Linux from an SD card. You can find out much more about this cool project at http://raspberrypi.org and look at their FAQ to learn the details. They also blogged about the details of this video.

Saw this last week thank the gods finally a pc that can be properly distributed to the third world so they can start to catch up now. Though even sixteen quid is a bit steep. Hopefully this will be better than the $100 pc initiative.

Hey M5, what did you think of it? How impressed were you with it's performance? Did you see a demo? I agree; pretty cool that it's designed to distribute to kids in underprivileged parts of the world.

Well, if they start a fund or a charity I'd donate a couple of those, for ?16 a piece!  It's a relatively small price for development :)
