Title: I wana live in the great USA dudes
Post by: tiem on December 15, 2011, 08:28:56 AM
Man England sux, bland culture, miserable people, no magic to this country, I'm English born and bred but ever since I can remember I have always loved the look and magic of USA, I really don't like living in England, can't stand English people, I recently watched a movie that could of been great but because they included a few english actors it ruined the whole film, English actors don't have that magic like American actors do, English culture pisses me off, the whole "we're British and the best in the world don't you know", fuck off, I wana be an American man, live in the magic land, yeah I know I'm fortunate to be born in England rather than a shity 3rd world country but come on, USA is the shit man!, recently went on holiday and met some American dudes in a bar, and wow man they are so much happier and friendly than English assholes, had some beers played pool, it was cool, I just said hello at the bar and they were like "hey man how are ya", shit if that was in England they would have looked at me like I had 3 heads or something!, I've looked into moving to you great country but shit man it ain't easy, almost impossible really, man if anyone can help on this matter of me moving to USA please do, your guys are in the greatest country dudes, I've travelled a fair bit and people from all over the world would choose USA more than anywhere, AMERICA rules man, you got cool stuff everywhere, great cars for one thing, I mean V8 muscle cars man, in England are cars suck ass, I love you guys!!!!

Errr... yeah, well, says you, man :D

England and the rest of Britain has its problems, but I'm more comfortable with the follies of the UK than I am with the follies of the US.  But that's just my opinion, I guess :P

It's funny you say "we're British and the best in the world don't you know", because one of my biggest problems with the US is that they often describe things as "The World's Best" and the like.  Best healthcare in the world, despite being ranked quite low among 1st world countires, and best democracy in the world, despite their farcical political system.  I think at least in the UK, there is a higher percentage of people who know how crap their country is compared to those in denial :)

The great thing about the cultural diversity of this planet, even within countires, is that you can travel and find the best place for you.

The Dudely Lama loves LA, but he feels more at home in Thailand.  I recently went to York and thought it was fantastic, but I'm pretty at home down here in the South.

I hope you get to fulfill your dream and live where you want... but, y'know, just remember some of us Brits fondly, willya? :)

ps, Can you get a copy of The Chap magazine in the US?  If not, what is even the point of that country? ;)

@rev ed c.... Man you are classic version of a boring Brit, straight away you go to politics and government shit, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS BULLSHIT!!!!!, I'm talking about the fun great stuff in life, why do you concern yourself with politics, if your so clued up on it then go be a politician!!!, im talking about the stuff that matters in life, fun stuff, because if you don't have have fun in life then what's the fucking point!!!!, America has great everything, cars, food, comedy (and don't say English comedy is funny because it's fucking shit, bland and typical English bollox), actors are the best in the world, USA has spirit, v8 cars cruising down highways, so much I could go on for hours, and you know it, stick your politics and government shit up your ass, oh and if I'm wrong sorry but if you were defending Muslims earlier, then you don't know shit, I've live amongst Muslims my whole life (36 years), and they are hateful rude cunts, they hate anyone who is not Muslim and want to kill you, trust me you can't tell me nothing about Muslim people so don't try, you need to open your eyes to how shit England is stop lying to yourself, don't be a stuck up English Pratt, and no doubt your going to reply to this post with a clever worded post, well I ain't got time to reply again because I'm busy living life and not concerning myself with bullshit, I will not reply to your next post, if you don't like me then don't reply to my posts, oh and if you are a rev (christian) then I have even less time for you, whats so fun about English culture????, fish and chips and fawltytowers???.

Ok stop and step away from the keyboard and calm down, tiem.

If you don't want others on the forum to express their (differing) opinions on a subject don't start a thread on it.

If you start a thread don't be shouting at other members eg:

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
...I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS BULLSHIT!!!!!...

Just because they don't agree with you.

Debate and argument are a skill learnt through practice and not shouting at each other.

You test your opinion by stating it and seeing how well you can argue against it's detractors.

If they are unable to convince you that you are wrong then your opinion is (iyho) sound and true.

There are times when one has to agree to differ (which in itself is fine).

This forum is not about point scoring and shouting each other down.

Also the question that occurs to me is if as you say you want to live in the US, why don't you?

Errrrr why am I in the wrong here????....Why  Don't you put the rev in his place????.... and as for moving to America it's almost impossible, as they don't let any scum in like I. The uk!

What about telling him to back off if he don't agree with me eh????!!!!!!!..... Or are you two buddy's????....
Title: Re: I wana live in the great USA dudes
Post by: Rev. Ed C on December 15, 2011, 10:52:23 AM
Hmm, well, first off, I never started on you.  I'm sorry if you felt like that, but I was just expressing my opinion on the matter.  I chose not to be insulted that you felt so venomously angry at the country I'm rather quite fond of, but I'm struggling not to be insulted at being called a boring Brit.... even if I am ;)

Secondly, I don't shout.  My sentences are punctuated with appropriate smilies to ensure the levity of my words shines through :)

If the thought of me defending the UK (whilst poking fun at it) and pointing out that the US isn't perfect either, maybe you need to take another trip to the US, because wherever you are in the UK is really getting to you.  You don't live in Erith do you, that's what drove my dad to the crazy old man he is ;D

Yeah, the UK';s a bit shit, but I don't think it's any shitter than the rest of the world.

And, politics IS life.  If you don't take an interest in politics, politics won't take an interest in you.  And trust me, there's no better comedy than watching UK/US politics... man, that's some funny shit right there :D

ps, I'm glossing over the Muslim bit, because I just respectfully dsagree :/

wow, that degenerated fast. i was going to reply to the original post, and i guess i still am  but i cant help but thinking about 'thinking-dude' and wondering if this charmers a new incarnate playing us for the fool.
more likely, there are just more tools than fools in the world. in ANY case,
tiem, america is not this big wonderful thing with awesome people who are nice in bars.
it is, like anywhere else full of dudes ANd human paraquat and you could get your ass handed to you in a bar in mississippi for just saying hi to a person who doesn't like your color or your tone or your shirt.
i didn't realize people still idealized america, i thought we had pretty clearly shown the world what a mess we are in so many ways.
rapes, murders, child sex trade, politicians, scandel, obesity, hate crimes, gangs....i mean, i love me some california man, but even here in the ventura hills we have idiots at every corner and murders in every town.
it takes a good deal of dude-work not to be a asshole in america, and a majority of us don't even know that well enough to try to be decent and kind and ethical. anyway, thats' my feeling from here.
Title: Re: I wana live in the great USA dudes

Again I'm not talking about politics, just dig Americas style, in a non political way, does anyone hear me???...
Title: Re: I wana live in the great USA dudes

I checked the ip address. tiem is posting from Hampshire, UK. so it's not thinkingdude 2.0. thank dude.

i find it strange that tiem likes we americans so much because we're so friendly. and then he's so incredibly unfriendly to ed.

ed didn't say anything mean to him at all. and then he goes an' acts like a right english hooligan, glassin' iz face an all that, innit? i guess he proved his point.

tiem, say you're sorry and don't talk shit like that again. we're not going to have another thinkingdude here. or as we say in american: "not on my watch!" ha ha. there are plenty of pricks over here as well.

nothing wrong with saying you dig america's style. and nothing wrong with saying you hate english style, either. just don't make personal attacks on forum members.
Title: Re: I wana live in the great USA dudes
Post by: tiem on December 15, 2011, 11:28:04 AM
Ed attacked me saying I'm wrong and England is better than USA, I originally just said I dig USA, what the fuck did I do wrong?
Title: Re: I wana live in the great USA dudes
Post by: tiem on December 15, 2011, 11:55:17 AM
Well..., from saying I just dig USA more than uk what a fucking disaster!, forum dude is putting my ip location on the forum?, what's that about?, also implying I'm a piece of shit English hooligan?, I'm getting fired at from all angles, I am not an asshole, very passionate maybe but not an asshole, I respect everyone on here, if you are not cool you would not of found this forum as I have, forum dude I have been greatly offended by you, I want to get along with everyone and please tell me if my politeness in typing is not correct as I'm not a computer wizard, I just watched the movie and fell in love with it, hence finding this forum, can't see how I can stay here now and make dude related posted...............
Title: Re: I wana live in the great USA dudes
Post by: forumdude on December 15, 2011, 12:05:27 PM
ed didn't attack you tiem. he stated his opinion and you royally cussed him out. you got mean and personal. sorry if you feel attacked. i was just pointing out the irony of your attitude. don't you think it's a little funny that you love americans for being friendly and you lash out violently at someone who meekly disagrees with you?

if you want to hang out here, you've got to stop over-reacting to everything and be more dude. the main thing the dude did was not react to all the criticism leveled his way. that was walter's way.

Don't believe this the one thing I've found which helps me deal with the constant bullshit of everyday life an I'm the fucking bad guy, unreal...

What you have said initially (the beginning of the thread) is fine.

The problem is you have instantly assumed he is being aggressive, which is not his intention at all.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
@rev ed c.... Man you are classic version of a boring Brit, straight away you go to politics and government shit,

That's fine, a bit sharp but your opinion.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS BULLSHIT!!!!!

You and I both know this is shouting. Unacceptable.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
I'm talking about the fun great stuff in life,

Your opinion again, and fine.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
why do you concern yourself with politics,

A question as to his reasoning again fine.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
if your so clued up on it then go be a politician!!!

Aggressive and unnecessary. This is insulting and doesn't address the point your discussing.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
im talking about the stuff that matters in life, fun stuff, because if you don't have have fun in life then what's the fucking point!!!!,

Again your point of view but still way too many exclamation points "!!!!" and aggressive. Why are you swearing at him when all he has done is state his opinion just as you have.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
America has great everything, cars, food, comedy

Yes in your opinion. They are not however objectively (scientifically) provable facts so the following is again your opinion but again aggressive and unnecessarily worded.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
(and don't say English comedy is funny because it's fucking shit, bland and typical English bollox),

Emotive, and again only your opinion. Just because you find something funny does not make it funny to anyone else and being arsy about it does not make your point very well at all.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
actors are the best in the world, USA has spirit, v8 cars cruising down highways, so much I could go on for hours, and you know it,

Fine but this is not a forum just to post your private points of view on and not have them questioned.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
stick your politics and government shit up your ass, oh and if I'm wrong sorry

Again aggressive unnecessary and doesn't make you any friends.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
but if you were defending Muslims earlier, then you don't know shit, I've live amongst Muslims my whole life (36 years), and they are hateful rude cunts, they hate anyone who is not Muslim and want to kill you, trust me you can't tell me nothing about Muslim people so don't try, you need to open your eyes to how shit England is stop lying to yourself, don't be a stuck up English Pratt,

Here I can't speak for your experience, but then neither can you speak for mine. The Muslims I know are the exact opposite.

Different areas different people. Just because you know some people who you consider "cunts" who are Muslims, does not make all Muslims "cunts". I know some that are but many that are not.

Being a truly minority religion ourselves, Religious intolerance is not something we stand for here. this is not acceptable.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
and no doubt your going to reply to this post with a clever worded post,

One of the points of the forum is to collect together individuals that have professed themselves to be Dudeist in point of view in any way they fell able. Be that cleverly worded posts, or heart felt simple ones. Either is acceptable, neither is frowned upon. Just because you find his "cleverly worded posts" difficult does not mean they are not appreciated by others.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
well I ain't got time to reply again because I'm busy living life and not concerning myself with bullshit, I will not reply to your next post, if you don't like me then don't reply to my posts,

Not the point of the forum at all. if we all didn't reply to any posts that we didn't like there would be no discussion and no moving forward with our definitions of our points of view.

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
oh and if you are a rev (christian) then I have even less time for you,

Again religious intolerance. Not acceptable.

It is at this point I realise you may have confused the point of this site.

The vast majority of us on this forum are ordained Dudeist Priests (even I am a Reverend, but not christian).

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
whats so fun about English culture????, fish and chips and fawltytowers???.

Finally back to the point of the discussion.

So in fact the body of your reply (the actual discussion should have looked like this:

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:23:46 AM
I'm talking about the fun great stuff in life, why do you concern yourself with politics, America has great everything, cars, food, comedy, actors are the best in the world, USA has spirit, v8 cars cruising down highways, so much I could go on for hours, and you know it, whats so fun about English culture????, fish and chips and fawltytowers???.

The rest was offensive, racist, rant.

Secondly, this is direct and malignant bating:

Quote from: tiem on December 15, 2011, 09:39:32 AM
Man shut up with politics shit!!!, talk about dude stuff!!, fucking hell, BORING'!!!!!!!!! Go be a politician and stop boring us with this shit!!!!!!!

Just because he disagreed with your thread you have gone out of your way to find one of his and post this.

This is not acceptable.

Finally why has he not gotten a note. Because he has not done anything apart from disagree with your point of view, he as not been abusive, aggressive, and racist.

I re-iterate what I said earlier in the post:

Quote from: meekon5 on December 15, 2011, 09:49:54 AM
If you don't want others on the forum to express their (differing) opinions on a subject don't start a thread on it.

If you start a thread don't be shouting at other members eg:

This forum is not about point scoring and shouting each other down.

Also the question that occurs to me is if as you say you want to live in the US, why don't you?

I'm sorry tiem but I think you have confused this forum as to what it is really about. this is not a "The big Lebowski" fan forum this is a serious religious discussion group.

You asked why I had said we had a problem with your post, I gave you the answer.

You are welcome to stay and continue to comment.

Just please try to stop and think before you get too excited.

It has happened to all of us, I have posted myself where I believed someone was taking the piss but they were not.

Rev Ed was only expressing an opinion, and you handed him his own gonads for no apparent reason.

think of the place as a quiet drinking bar, like in "Cheers".

How would people have been treated if they walked in on their first week drinking there and started shouting at people for saying I don't think your right with that opinion?

What was most alarming was where he turned out to be posting from... he might be my noisy neighbour from downstairs, or maybe a disgruntled regular in Meekon's local pub.  Something about our local area must a) attract Dudes and b) really be a strain on people's sanity :)

But thanks for the general wave of support, fellas, it's nice to know that not everyone sees an ogre's head on my shoulders :D

As for actually drinking together... Meekon, Klaus, Kiteboysi and I all need to brave the cold for that one.  And apparently, it's impossible to have fun in this country, so maybe we shouldn't bother :P

That gets me thinking that sometime in the near future there should be an international meeting of the dudes and dudeism. Hell, the UK would be a cool place to have such a historic meeting. Shepherd Neame, the great Kentish brewery (est. 1698), home of Bishop's Finger and Spitfire.   That's the place to be!

Also, it's not too far from Sandwich (yes, where the sandwich was invented), in case anyone gets peckish :D

Well if we have to stick to the U.K. I suppose I could settle for Cornish Pasties, making fun of the Welsh, and a trip to the Doctor Who museum. :P

I've read through the whole thing. Don't get pissed off and patiently discuss. You dudes are real cool.
Meanwhile,I don't hate tiem. To the contrary,I kind of understand him, maybe he is in his hard days,or even hurt shortly earlier. And his heart has definitely been hurt. I know it because I can feel it.

Well, Lei, like I said, all country's have their ups and downs, the US, the UK and your own home-nation of China.  I think focusing on the good parts is great, but we should not ignore the bad points, and that goes both way.

I was merely offering the balanced view of the argument, because to lord the US and condemn the UK was quite a harsh way to go.  I like both countries and dispair at them in equal measures ;)  And as for China, I have a lot of respect and a lot of concerns much the same.  Although I can understand why you'd feel as you do, I hope you can see the good parts of your country as well, and see the failings of other countries.

There is no wonderland on this earth.  And if there is, it's certainly not the US or the UK ;D

ps, I don't hate Tiem.  I'm not given to hate.  There's too much hate around here (both the world and sometimes this forum).  Even the most heinous of paraquats on this planet don't merit unbridled hate.  They require sensible dislike.  Passion can be a good thing, unless it's twinned with hatred, IMDO :)

Personally I just think tiem was a little lost and expected this forum to be something it was not.

There's no hate for the guy here.

In fact I offered to not delete his account but he thought that would be best.

Well, this is interesting but imdo that guy was a flamethrower on purpose. Also as someone who has lived in the UK for 36 years his English seemed a bit strange. Oh well.

But probably I've lost something, what happened with thinkingdude? ust a bit curious.

The grass is always greener across the pond.
IMHO people are pretty much the same. There are always differences but not stark ones.
To say that people are less boring here in the US is not particularly true.
We have our share of drab culture for sure. I mean just look at American TV.
American Idol being the most popular TV show in history. Basically karaoke.
Don't even get me started on that. I think we've turned into a tabloid wasteland of unoriginality and bland regurgitated crap. We used to make great movies for instance. Now unless you like superhero's you are mostly out of luck. It's turned to crass commercialism.
And if you don't like people saying that England is the greatest country in the world. OMG.
It is so engrained in us here in the US that we are the greatest that we can't even believe it when other countries don't agree. I mean it actually surprises people to find that out.

Great gobs of gronski, you guys all drink together? HA! ;D

That's the scary thing.  You think someone's probably hundreds or miles away, and then it's revealed he's in the came county as you... He might have been the guy sitting opposite me in the office for all I know ;D

International Dudeism! Pubs, oat sodas, raise a song, dudeist thinking, conversation and fellowship. Fuckin' eh.

Used to be you could just follow the Dead around.

To expound on DB's post, I spent a bit of time on Google Maps and Photoshop. I imagined myself walking around LA with a Polaroid, with a group of bum-bag tourists with over-sized sunglasses being led by some pimple faced tourist guide..  Yes, it's how I day-dream...

Where it all starts:

"I'm finishing my coffee..."

"This is what happens when you..."

Missing toes & pancakes

"Move over, I'll drive"

That is an awesome photo montage!

But I have to say that being from the east I always imagine LA in an idealized sort of way.
Not to piss on any of our LA Dudes' rugs but it looks sort of crappy doesn't it?
I thought it was supposed to be a lot nicer in the City of Angels.
'Course, I can't say I seen London, and I never
been to France, and I ain't never seen no queen in her damn undies as
the fella says.

Nice one, Biker!  That was exactly my point.  Everywhere has its ups and downs.  Nowhere is perfect.  The key to enjoying where to are is to pick up on what's good and make peace with what's bad (and try and rectify it where possible).

If you idealise your own home you're deluding yourself and shutting the rest of the world out.
If you condemn your own home you'll never be happy until you find a way to get out... which ain't easy!

And, PS, I'm really really sorry on behalf of my entire nation for letting Simon Cowell bring Pop Idol, The X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent over to the US.  Now you know our pain!  In exchange you gave us Don't Forget the Lyrics and we managed to consign that to Channel 5 where it couldn't hurt anyone ;)

I'm also unconditionally sorry that venomous, shit-spouting, amoral fuckwit Piers Morgan has established himself in your media (although I'd rather he stayed there than came back :P).  You have my deepest condolances.

Can America possibly realise how much that twat is detested over here ...well by anyone with a brain....and as for Ms Holden....don't get me started! The pair were made for each other!

Now what the fuck is it about Hampshire? It's beautiful...absolutely stunning...I recall cycling to work around 5 am when 5 deer jumped from one field onto the road about 10 feet in front of me over the hedge and into the next field...made my heart sing...I tell thee....got my own back later in the day by flying low level in a Chinook over a heard of their compeers...;)

Hampshire: Home of the Paras and the UK Helicopter Force and Rich Twats.....and of course the likes of Rev Ed and Meekon and Klaus and our recently imploded dude! WTF is going on?

Loved the countryside and the proximity to London....wasn't so sure of the gentry though...we used to have NOTAMS  (Notice to Airmen, FAA Guidlines) issued to ensure we wouldn't fly across farmland if they were going to be fox hunting that day! Ignored of course and indeed we would actively chase the foxes if we seen them! Tally Ho....Toffs away day spoiled! :)
