To me its mainly organizing power cords and cables. It's interesting how quickly you get a mixture of different pieces of plastic on your table. Worse than papers, although those can produce a big mess too. Try some boxes for them.
Cordless appliances require chargers anyway, and you never know when they'll freeze, so I think it's not the solution.
