Dudeism

eNotes comments on Dudeism...............

"Consequently, simple everyday pleasures like bathing, bowling, hanging out with friends are seen as far preferable to the accumulation of wealth and the liberal spending of money as a means to achieve happiness and spiritual fulfillment."

The History of Dudeism: American Dudey

"Contemporary dudeism in fact arose in opposition to the promises of modernism, industrialization and citification, and all the Faustian bargains they slyly purveyed. The very term "dude" was originally coined to refer to a small group of well-heeled and educated east-coast Americans who, sensing that true life was elsewhere, traveled westward into the wilds in search of a more honest existence."

ha ha. actually that's a column the dudely lama (yours truly) wrote many years ago. i had a monthly column in a tiny newspaper called "the pai post" in a wee backpacker town in thailand called "pai". i think i wrote twelve of them. i must unearth them and publish them at some point at the dudespaper or maybe on the wall of a public toilet.

the person who posted it (http://www.myspace.com/adamebdon/blog/369247803) must have dutifully typed out the entire thing by hand since there was no online version.

i think people have been making nips and tucks to the wikipedia article. could definitely use a makeover though. anyone is welcome to do so.

Public toilets can offer profound and deep insights into human nature; the Virgin Mary herself would be proud to pee in......

This reminds me of a local phenomenon I stumbled upon 35-60 oat beers ago... Has any of you Dudes ever blessed an urinal all boozed up, looking for a place to rest your head (wall) and  banged your forehead into the tiles? If so, acknowledge: one ingenious bar-owner decided to install head cushioning over the urinals. Consequently, preventing his guest to enter a world of pain... Anyway, sketch to follow as soon as I'm allowed to post links.

Love this little beach community, long as it's on the west side of the beach, because thats where the sun sets, and the sun rise is to early in the east. Pull up a chair and a cold bevrage and soak in the chillaxment of duderino.
