Title: Your personal "dude car"
Post by: DigitalBuddha on December 10, 2011, 05:39:39 AM
Now we all know what the dude was driving (before they finally killed his fucking car), but I was wondering what other dudes would call their personal vision of their own "dude car." I dig a lot of rides, but when I want to ride in something dude like and way cool for me, it could be.........

The Edsel Ford Speedster;
drive it through your local In And Out Burger!

You have to admit, there is a lot of dude in this little beauty. Deck it out with a killer stereo system to bang the roof to some Creedence with (shit, there is no roof), OK, the side doors (shit, there is no side doors), some up to date electronics like a GPS, etc., and you're cruising in dude like style. All you need is a place for your stash and you got it made. (http://dudeism.com/smf/Themes/classic/images/post/thumbup.gif)

That's one sweet ride dude. You'd need a garage for rainy days. And homeless people who might want to relieve themselves in it...

my dude car is the car i drive, and it's VERY dude, dudes,
in that it is simply a vehicle that has nice headroom and is comfy as a couch and gets me where i am going. it is SLOWER than shit so cars are constantly passing me, but this dude is just abiding, i never get speeding tickets and like my license plate frames say ( front and back) 'the dude abides'
this care keep me from frantically trying to pass people AND my dashboard has a rug on it that YES, comes WITH THE CAR. i have a walter action figure attached to the rug and a copy of ' the abide guide' in the glove compartment.
the car is a ginger colored 2011 nissan CUBE, but it matters less what it is, then what it does, which is stated nicely, i like to think, in the above lines of type.

For me it would have to be a self driving car (http://news.discovery.com/autos/how-google-self-driving-car-works-111018.html) so I don't have to worry about all the hassle of other drivers.

;D

;D

I saw a demo of this Google self-drive system at the weekend, on TV.  Being an auto-phobe, I'm actually even less happy to be driven by a super-accurate computer system than a human.  The system is doubtless more accurate, has a greater scope of sensory devices and has a brain that puts Stephen Hawking to shame...

... but I work with computers all the time, and the love to glitch and crash... and crash is not what I want when I'm in a car :)

Just google "If operating systems were cars" and see what you get... pretty funny. (I'm a Unix dude myself, so I like to poke fun at Windoze.)

Unix = Voo Doo Satanist.

Unfortunately I'm SQL DBA (so have tied my career, or sold my soul, to M$), but do play with Linux on my home machines.

But yes a car run entirely on M$ software would be horrible, everyone stopping by the road to turn them off then on again just to get them to work again.
