Title: I'm new so sorry for any um...lost my train of thought... oh yeah, um never mind
Post by: IamtheWarl0ckDude on November 30, 2011, 11:21:25 PM
Could the principles of dudeism be mixed with any other religion? I mean, I hear priest, Reverend, Rabbi, etc. so is that allowed? Also, does anyone know what states actually consider the marriages and the religion recognized? I am new and I'm not trying to ruin anyone's mellow. I'm only curious.

Yes, it can. There are dudes in just about every walk of life. We have Buddhist dudes, Pagan dudes, Christian dudes, Atheist dudes, Hindu dudes, etc. Dudeism is a thing of the inner person, of the heart, not restricted by a person's other righteous pursuits.

Chose your own monkier, man.  We're all for self-appointed titles, as long as you don't expect there to be any authority that goes along with it :)

How many popes do we have now?? ;D

Actually dude, most faiths SOMEWHERE in their sacred writings have many dudely admonishments... the bible has "Love your neighbour as yourself" - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". The teachings is Islam have "respect your parents" - "Be content with what you have"... just some short examples.

I take some comfort from the fact that Oddball could take part in necessary military activity, remain dudely, and not turn into some kind of Walter Sobchak.I was on a weekend excercise once when we took a tv/video (we had our own generators),Kelly's Heroes was the movie of choice.Watched in a tent,in a field,in the middle of nowhere. With a few beers. One of those moments.
