Title: Reaching Dudevana - the path to take.
Post by: DigitalBuddha on November 15, 2011, 09:22:11 PM
So if there is such thing as "dudevana," what would it be, and how would a dude reach it and know that he or she had? What techniques could a dude use to begin the road to ultimate dudevana? Could a dude reach it through bowling, zesty coitus, mixing a Caucasian, saying fuck it to it all and going bowling?

My personal technique might include having an In and Out Burger with a special lady friend.

Any thoughts on reaching this height, dudes?

I'd be willing to try hard-core hedonism as a means of reaching such a state.  Even if you fail to reach the ultimate goal, the effort yields its own rewards.  Am I wrong?

Awesome pic dude. Dudevana is an internal thing. Nothing to do with external circumstances. You actually OWN the ability to be totally content and peaced-out. That simple. Not that I've mastered it; but I've learned that it's a personal thing. So, we shouldn't buy in to the "I'll be happy when..." It's "I'll be happy and fulfilled now", cause - like, I'm living in the ever-present "now". I'm not articulating it well enough, but that's the gist of it.

if there is a Dudevana, I think the easiest way to get into it is by not worrying about whether or not you can get there. Since Dudeism celebrates the easy-going way of life and we welcome all to the church of the Latter-Day Dude, it shouldn't be difficult to reach Dudevana. Also, if getting to Dudevana is hard or requires work, it wouldn't sit well with Dudeists IMHO.

i was going to say something about the big bowling lane in the sky but that has too many christian undertones. :0
dudevana is all around, here and there if you will, and simply requires cohorts to adhere to a strict regime of drugs and cocktails to keep the mind limber and clear the every day shit obscuring your view of it.
peace.

Dudevana?!?!?!  Crap, I've been searching for Nerve-doodah!  Okay, this is going to change a few things.  First of all:  Don't rely on words.  They're, like, only consensual opinions of meaning, mang.  They're spelt.  Who spelled them?  I dunno man, who the hell do you think I am?

Perhaps, on some distant planet, there are worms squirming through mud.  And at this particular moment, one of those worms squiggles-out a worm track which would read, "exolfactory," to us.  Did that worm scrawl a word?

Could that worm be a dude?  Is Dudeism an anthropocentric conception?  Surely there are dude labs, or retrievers.  I used to have a rotweiller that aspired to be a dude.

Are there dogs in Dudevana.  I'm actually mostly a cat-guy, though.  Are there cats in Dudeland?

Taking from the Tao of the Dude

Quote41. Dudeism

When the strong learn Dudeism, they practice it diligently; When the average learn Dudeism, they practice it sometimes; When the weak learn Dudeism, they take it easy; Those who do not take it easy do not learn Dudeism at all.

Therefore it is said: Who follows Lebowski seems foolish; Who progresses in Dudeism needs condolences; Who follows the Dude seems to stumble and wander.

It would seem activly seeking Dudevana takes you further away from it.

I reach it occasionally but it is fleeting.
For instance
Great summer weather, 3 days of great music, a cooler, some ganja and lots of lovely ladies dancing around.

Unfortunately I can't reach Dudevana as a constant state. Unless we hit the lottery.
You gotta feed the monkey.

It seems that dudevana is something to reach by not reaching for it. It is grasped by not grasping for it. Am I wrong?

So true my dude. so true is many places in life. trying too hard causes stress, stress causes unbalence, unbalence and stress = undude. . the best things in life are natural, and balenced.

From my favourite Tao Te Ching app:

Quote from: Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching, verse 75

I place fewer and fewer demands on myself and others,
I am free to commune with nature,
to work,
play,
read
or just do nothing.
