Title: Losing the Amsterdam Connection
Post by: milnie on October 19, 2011, 05:58:49 PM
while i appreciate the smoking of j's is not a requirement for dudelyness, those who do inhale like me will no doubt have a few thoughts on the impending legislation changes for coffeeshops in holland and who they can sell to.

i understand maastricht is about to implement the foreigner ban before it goes national.

If there is one thing all government everywhere absolutely hate, it is freedom. Freedom and government NEVER go hand in hand. When people have freedom, governments can't get away with the evil shit that they do. If there was total freedom in Germany before WWII hitler would have never been able to do what he did, nor assholes like stalin in the 30's where millions died.

...........fucking nazis, nothing ever changes.

I don't remember where I heard it but someone wiser said that government should be scared of people, not the other way round. The problem is that people are not as organized as governments. Actually governments and their accolites are always less then citizens, only that citizens don't act together.
Either way ten versus one the loser is always the one alone.

If even in Northern Europe freedom gets reduced, well, that's a bummer.

andrea, i suspect most governments are scared of the people, which is why most appear to do some increadibly stupid things ...

but getting back to topic, further updates suggest that holders of belgian and german passports will still be able to buy at coffee shops. which is strange because most smaller towns (who are driving the motion) complain that it is the local border hoppers that are causing all the problems that lead to the proposition for a restriction on selling of marjuana to tourists.

Well milnie, actually I don't have a clue about these changes but I find that being pretty cool about J's and pretty stricts about other substances is the right way to go, imdo.  8)

If this changes it's a kind of a bummer.

yeah man. can you believe all this is coming about because of parking!!!
locals have been complaining that people nipping across for a smoke are taking up all the parking spaces and that is the root of the issue. not the juxtaposition of soft / hard drug pushing or the associated criminal activity, ...., but parking!

Well, human nature sometimes is very interesting. They should find an alternative solution, like asking smokers to stay within the coffee shops. If they are not nihilists they would probably gladly do it. Not that all of them are dudes though.

I used to live in Abu Dhabi in the main part of the City on top of a furniture store which closed at 9pm.... I finished work at 8 but it wasn't worth me going home till around 8:45 otherwise I would just have to circle my apartment building waiting for a space....then I got my boss to move his premises so I didn't have to drive to work!!! Cool huh!?

Peace dudes.

i dont think people were sitting in their cars getting stoned ... they were just taking up all the parking spaces while they went and got stoned in the coffeeshop, which as Cd notes can be a real pain in the arse if its your space they are parking in.

Anyway the fact that they are unpolite assholes doesn't justify bothering or threathening coffee shops. Real Reactionaries.
