Title: Scary question
Post by: Caesar dude on September 13, 2011, 06:04:23 PM
I'm going to ask a controversial question and am maybe putting myself in a bad light by doing so but I feel it should be asked.

How many dudes are there out there who are black or at least not caucasion (sic) ?

I ask this because we've already had the mysoginistic label thrown at us and deflected it well just by our M to F ratio. But could we also be accused of racism or perhaps exclusion?

I can be serious sometimes you know!

Peace dudes

Hmmm, caucasian. Wonder what the Dude calls a Black Russian?

I am a white Russian by ancestry, but I do know a cool Dude named Sam who happens to be black. He'd fit right in here. Most of my black friends probably wouldn't qualify as "Dudes", 'cuz they are a bit too into appearance, bling, money, etc. to be truly Dudely. Of course, that applies to most of the honkies I know as well.

So to sum it up, I don't know.

I'm not black, but I am ginger, one of the smallest ethnic minorities in the world :)

Seriously though, I'm glad this has been brought up again, because we didn't really get down to it in the Moving Dudeism Forwards discussion.  A straw poll is a good idea, CD!

See I can only claim to be part ginger. Big influence from Irish/Viking ancestors. My Dads family came over from Ireland about seven generations ago, my Mums family are northerners.

For me, its just another way of saying if you are a black, be a black dude, if you are a white, be a white dude, if you are a brown, be a brown dude, if you are...did I miss someone? Maybe Irish? Be a fucking Irish dude, then.

Anyway, Dudeism is not about converting people from what ever they are to something, rather its about adding to what they are. Though, I'm not sure you could say "if you are a nazi, be a nazi dude," somehow that doesn't seem to work, especially in close range of a Jewish dude.

Point is that we, IMHO, should not be about changing people to "our way of thinking, per se'," or "our culture;" its about enhancing what a person is by adding Dudeism to their life experience.

Personally, I think Dudeism would make most anyone a better what ever they are. I mean would you rather be pulled over by a dude like cop or one that is very undude? Q.E.D.

IMHO  :)

I don't believe that if it turns out that we have few blacks it is any indication of racism.
Racially we are very cool.

If you asked the same question on a board devoted to Credence Clearwater Revival, or bowling or polka music I think you might see a similar demographic. Cultural differences are not wrong. In fact I believe cultural diversity is a good thing and it's not in any way the same a racial prejudice.

I also don't believe  that if we turned out to be 99% male (which I guess we aren't unless we have some phony accounts) that it would be an indication of misogyny.
From my experience more guys dig the movie than females. Which is no sin.

Bikerdude - I like yer style man.  You are absolutely right about diversity - to say that every group  comprised of voluntary members must have an evenly-distributed, politically-correct representation of every sex and race is naive.

@Caesar: I'm not sure I understand your motive for asking the question.  Membership is absolutely voluntary, with no spoken or implied restrictions. You don't even have to watch the frikin' movie! So, if there's any labels being thrown at us, defusing them would be a no-brainer, IMHO.

I think DB said it pretty well, the only difference is dude-undude. The only problem with other religions is if they are able to take their own religion as easy as we take ours. With all the other things, like reason, logic..... Sometimes pagan religions makes more sense than many monotheistic ones. Oh well, every religion has the followers which resonate with it, uptight people follow uptight religions, cool people follow cool religions, or follow religion cool. Is not the religion the cause for everything, it's the people, and the darned human nature. imho obviously.  ;D

Back to the topic. We don't have problems with the color of the skin, given that we see people for their behavior and not for their appearance, but we could have with cultures. I mean, there are cultures which cannot resonate with Dudeism, while others can and will. Cultures have many similarities with religions as I said above. I don't know how many colors Dudeism have but surely it's not something that depends from us, we are cool about almost everything.

I mean, without regard with the color of the skin, if you go to Milan and talk about taking it easy almost everyone will look at you just like if you came from Mars. They're always running. While if you go to Naples, forget the crime for a moment, they'll probably see what you mean, and offer you a coffee.

does it makes sense or as usual too much wine? White wine this time.  8)

I have to be honest my ginger actually starts from  just above my ears downwards.

It's a family trait, huge ginger sideburns.

Oh man! I can't cope with the whole race thing.I have a hard enough time just appearing human.
I don't care where you come from just as long as you don't pee on my rug.Or my mates rug.
Although,it would be nice to be able to buy a coffee these days without requiring a phrase book.

Here you go dudes. Just up loaded an old video to my YouTube channel. It was made for us (the Do No Harm group) by a friend, but she took her YouTube channel Private so you cannot see the video any more.
This video pretty much explains why there is a Do No Harm movement.
Enjoy! 8^)

Im married to a Ginger, does that work? Or I could go with 1/4 Cherokee, on my fathers side.
I have to agree with everything said before this post, because I think it is relevant to point out the same idea, multiple times.
If you wanna dude it up, dude it up, if you don't, don't. What does race or sex have to do with it?
