Title: Beat the Band?

i mighta missed it, but why does it keep saying "to beat the band" in the book? or am i just a child wandering into the middle of a movie having an acid flashback?

Not sure which book.
If it's Dude related I suppose it's because of the stranger saying to beat the band.

It's slang. It means basically "a lot" "very much" etc...

guess I never cought that. I always thought it was beat the man (the whole bear/bar thing again).

that's near the end of the movie, my mind is pretty limber by then. Guess I need to just shut up and listen.
