Title: Jeff Bridges and the Abiders
Post by: 4weeddude on July 09, 2011, 01:28:22 PM
The Dude is comming to Marin where I live...... KOOL

The Dude abides. So Jeff Bridges, a cult hero for his role in "The Big Lebowski ," would naturally call his band the Abiders. They make their Marin debut Aug. 24 at Marin Center. Tickets go on sale July 11.

The Oscar-winner's show coincides with the Aug. 16 release of his eponymous major label album debut on Blue Note Records. Recorded in Los Angeles and Brooklyn, it was produced by Bridge's "Crazy Heart" movie collaborator, the multiple Grammy-winning songwriter, musician and producer T Bone Burnett.

Audiences got a taste of Bridge's talent as a singer in his Academy-Award-winning portrayal of grizzled country legend Bad Blake in "Crazy Heart." And now he has his first album and first Marin appearance.

"The album is a natural extension of the love of music I've had all my life," Bridges said.

In his Marin show, he'll perform songs from "Crazy Heart" as well as his originals from the new album, plus songs by the late Stephen Bruton, Greg Brown and Bo Ramsay.

This is true, free is very dude like. Though the dude did leave some change on the counter to cover his coffee.

....and weeddude, "jobless" is not the preferred nomenclature; "pre-employed," please.

Chia Tao Begins a Poem to Subprefect Li K'uo of Hu County By Saying
by David Budbill

"I Can't help but feeling for you-
leaving your office work
only to meet each time
the dying day."

I've spent most of my life
pissing and moaning about
never having any money,
not being known, never
getting any honors, not
getting to travel.

And yet,
for more than forty years
my days have been my own.

It takes a long time for some people
to realize how lucky they are.
