everyone is always saying 'go for it, life's too short' but i feel like 'go for it, life is so fucking long you might as well try to get as much pleasure out of it as you can'.
am i alone here?
'life's too short', whatever.
ive been around 46 years now and although im not ready to leave, there is still a lot of novelty and pleasure and curiosity in these aging bones, i certainly dont think life is too short. i DO think ' holy shit!' im already 46?'! which is perhaps why the 'life is too short thing' came about, but life is often too fast, not too short IMHO.
to entertain myself over even just the last 25 years i've had to be an observant jew in a yeshiva, a promiscous nutjob, a wedding officiant, a lesbian, a dominitrix, a wife to FOUR husbands, a telemarketer, an actress, a phone sex operator, a mother, the list goes on and on.
i will end by saying the one thing i HAVE been without fail the last 13 years is a lebowski-est and a dudeist/abideist.
anyone care to pontificate?

Fucking a, man! That's how I feel--break the monotony whenever you can!
I believe you are also a writer and editor are you not?
When you watch a movie, and it's really good, you don't notice the length. You come out after 3 hours of "The Godfather" (for some people), and you go "Holy shit! That didn't FEEL like 3 hours", because you had a good time. Same thing when you're sunning it up in a quiet little beach community.
So I guess the more accurate way might be to say "Life feels so short, I'm having so much fun!"
Whoe! Very philosophical. Lotta ins and outs.
It's like a marot, hanging from a fish on a fishing pole held by Jesus.
I guess that's the way the whole durned human
comedy keeps perpetuatin' it-self, down through the generations, westward
the wagons, across the sands a time until-- aw, look at me, I'm ramblin'
again. Wal, uh hope you folks enjoyed yourselves.

ddddd
and i say, 42!
Maybe life is just life...neither short nor long..length is a measurement of relativity..since your life is unique and can't really be compared to another ultimately...whatever life you live is just the life you live. When we die..the only thing that can be said is ..we lived..we were here. Having said that...do what you will as each day reveals its shape..don't try to punch the water..ride the wave...don't take advice from a guy who speaks in weird aphorisms....
I reckon I can die with a smile on my face...not havin to feel the good lord gypped me...

Why spend any of your time worrying if it's too long or too short, tomorrow we will die, live now.

It's interesting that the other half has read Ayn Rand and I haven't, but this is the sort of thing I've always said to her about death. I have to keep an open mind about the possibilities of a hereafter, otherwise if I stick to belief that life is life and death is oblivion, what's the point doing anything because it's all going to get erased when I die, like I never existed, as far as I'd be concerned.
As such, I've taken to not worrying aobut it. If I die and that's that, there's no spilt milk to cry over. And, if existance goes on after life, well, that'd be a nice suprise.
Life is a very hard thing to quantify, espeically as humans have vastly varying degrees of time on this earth, and beyond that most life on earth is hugely varied in length. A tree can last for a thousand years of laid-back living whilst a million generations of insects can infest it for that time.
Some people are "glass half empty" some are "glass half full". I always say, it might be full, but it's 'only' half full. No matter what way you look at it, there's always a neutral balance in the middle. The positive and the nagative in a yin-yang of harmony. Life is an unquantifiable time, and that, I'm afraid, is the long and the shrot of it :)
