Title: What's a CNIL?
Post by: Banjo Dude on March 21, 2011, 06:49:01 PM
Hooray for La France!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12809076

"Mistakenly ... Accidentally"

Yeah, riiiiiiight.

France is my hero for the day.

Oh, and I like how Auntie Beeb there seems to assume that I either already know what CNIL stands for, or don't care. :)

[twenty-three seconds of "research" later]

Oh.  I see, it's that the BBC knows "Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertes" is simply beyond my anglo-centric little comprehension!  Zut alors!

[Edited in futile attempt to make the 'e' in "libertes" have an accent aigu and then given up on, and replaced with a naked 'e'. Merde.]

I personally read the English version (http://www.cnil.fr/english/news-and-events/news/article/google-street-view-cnil-pronounces-a-fine-of-100000-euros/) as my French is a bit rusty now.

V.I. Lenin!  Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!

To quote the main man HST

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely.
